Was kind of looking at the possibility that I may one day lose my senses and go for a 2070, so to prepare for such an eventuality, I do what I always do whenever considering any GPU. Check out user reviews to weed out any models with potential issues. Reviews on newegg, amazon, nvidia forum are showing higher percentage of RMAs than I've seen with previous gen card releases. Seems it wasnt only the 2080ti, but the whole RTX range beset with problems. I know that in the overall scheme of things, this may be just a small sampling, and that 95% of all RTX cards *may be* good, still that does not inspire confidence.

I ran my 2070 under constant load for over 24 hours playing Path of Exile last weekend, I didn't see anything remotely close to an artifact, or any damage to my hardware. Of course I am only a sample size of 1 and have only owned the card for a few weeks, but this issue seems to be only relevant to 2080Tis.

Got my MSI 2070 Gaming Z in tested around a bit so performs like 24 % better as my GTX 1070 no coil wine and no weird thingy's so I'm happy so far got to test it with Battlefield V still but I take my time :)

24% you must be kidding...It should perform 40%+ on average then 1070 and even more while both OCed.

I did a raw math on my score based on 3DMark with my GTX 1070 I have a score of 16498 against a score on my RTX of 19901 so the difference is 3403 points higher that makes around 20% faster or am I missing something ?

here is a screeny from my last score

anyone try doing memory underclock vs stock vs overclock yet to see the results??

Yes 1st you're comparing in outdated Firestrike benchmark, run TimeSpy or any game bench and you'll see 40+% difference. And 2nd not compare the whole result directly only the GPU and GT1/2
In Timespy 2070 could exceed 10k GPU overclocked where 1070 couldn't get higher than 6600-6700 -> 50% to catch with...
There are examples where the difference could get upto 70% here 88 vs 150fps:

50.4% actually ...compare just the GPU score because the CPU is holding down the overall one.
    49.5% in GT1 and 51.3% in GT2 :)

I'll bench some Fire Strike when I get home (Tried to run it this morning but it was crashing at my Time Spy clocks). Fire Strike is just way different than Time Spy and isn't really indicative of gaming performance iirc.

Time Spy isn't either afaik. Time Spy heavily favors Turing to the point where it competes with and beats the 1080Ti when the memory is OC'd. Getting 9000+ (or even 9500+) with a 2070 is relatively trivial as long as you have a modern 6 or 8 core CPU.

Guess that's thanks to arch. tweaks in Turing, including concurrent execution of FP and integer operations and independent thread scheduling.
Naturally parallel processing based rendering such as DX12 should benefit from that.

Which is good once DX12 / Vulkan become more common and are more effectively implemented.

So TimeSpy doesn't "favor" Turing per se but games don't show as much gain necessarily yet.
Good counter example is Wolf 2 (Vulkan) where a RTX 2070 beats a 1080 Ti and Turing in general has excellent performance.

Enjoying my 2070 with an i5 9600k for almost a month now. No issues so far, I haven't tried overclocking yet the GPU yet. My previous card was a 1070 with I5 4690k which my son rocks in his rig which both are overclocked.

I'll be paying attention to your overclocking post, for now I'll keep things at stock. Saw a youtuber say his card died hours after benchmarking it. I have the same card from gigabyte, so I'm a little nervous.

Tried flashing BIOS, not much improvements on my end for the Gaming Z 2070.

    90.06.0B.40.12 (STOCK) -> 90.06.18.40.29 (December)

Still cap out around 2050-2070 (+100), and RAM at +900-1000.

I think it maxes out around 1059mV.

On the other hand my bro gets 2130 (+100), and RAM also capable +900-1000.

He says he maxes out around 1067mV.
