Question about ATi 5870 Bios (new bios)

    Hey everyone...

I just noticed that there is a bios update for ATi Powercolor 5870 cards located here:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...or&model=HD+5870&interface=PCI-E&memSize=1024

My question is this... I have a Powercolor 5870 1GB card and under ATi overdrive it shows my card as 850/1200MHz - Could I go with the bios 875 / 1225?

Would anyone of those bios work on my 5870 card?

Would those extra clock speeds cause crashing on the stock cooler?

    Thanks

Yes you could go with it but i'd just use ccc to oc to the same clocks first and do some testing if alls good then go right ahead and install the MODed bios

There is no need to flash another BIOS if you want to overclock your card... simply use MSI Afterburner and set the clocks you want. If your card can't handle it, simply restart your PC and everything is fine again. You could of course flash higher clocks to the card via BIOS but I see no point in this as it is always a risk and I see no disadvantage in using software for GPU OC.
