Ok well it''s been like 6 yrs since i've purchased a pc and im shocked at how cheap ram is! Anyways this is my build: CPU- Core i7 2600K http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=57960 Mobo-ASUS P8Z68-M Pro Z68 (Matx) http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=64104 Vid card- EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti Fermi http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=58347&promoid=1115 Case- Antec Mini P180 mATX http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=51309&promoid=1115 Ram- Kingston HyperX KHX1600 (8gb) http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=57869 What do you think about this build? It's been a while since i've kept up with comp hw and im looking to play bf3 and such. I want an matx case so my physical computer is smaller (i do travelling). Is matx worth it over standard atx? I dont plan on overclocking WIll this PSU be sufficient for my comp and will it even fit in an matx case? I don't think it will, but im new to matx stuff so i want to make sure. http://ncix.com/products/?sku=53966&vpn=OCZ600SXS2&manufacture=OCZ Technology
That board is good but if you can spend a little more and buy an ATX you will have more upgrade paths for the future.
That PSU will fit that case and it also did very well for it's price in the reviews so good choice there.
im also thinking of getting an i5-2500k instead of i7-2600k since performance is similar. Is the 600w enough to power the system?
More than enough. I have a similar config as that (P67, i5-2500K, 8GB, 560 Ti), OC'ed (one @4.3GHz, the other @950MHz), and still managed to fold 24/7 on a 500W SilverStone without a hitch.
hmm im not sure whether i should go matx or atx or should i wait a month? ive heard some new processors are coming out
mATX is fine if you want it to be a bit portable-ish; get an NZXT Vulcan for the case instead while you're at it. As long as you don't have an itch for having a multi-card config, mATX is enough. What new processors?
ah yes those. so its 2012 now it seems. i thought i read they are coming out now i think i will take the i5 2500 over the 2500K since i wont be overclocking either
Personally that made me a bit happy since I just bought an i5-2500K not too long ago. Then you probably won't need the 600W either, but it's fine if you want it to be future-proof.
also another question. my mother board is sata 3 compatible the mother board i want: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=58746 is 1tb and 110$ after price match is getting a sata 2 or 3 worth it? i will NOT be doing any kind of raid config. just a simple 1 hard drive system
Maximum External Data Transfer Rate: 600 MBps sata - 150MBps sata2 - 300MBps sata3 - 600MBps so it's sata3 but there's no big differences between sata2 and 3... board support both, sata2 and 3
With a mechanical drive, you won't see any noticable performance increase from SATA2 to SATA3. Current SATA3 mechanical harddrives still can't transfer enough data to max out the SATA2 controllers.
is this a sata 1 or 3 hd then? http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=58746 ihere is the manufacutrer website for specs on it (click 1TB and 32mb cache) http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/desktops/barracuda_hard_drives#tTabContentSpecifications but says only "SATA" not like "SATA3"
sata3 = sata600 = sata6gb ifu scroll down for specs u can see sata/600 so it's sata3. but as sykozis said, it doesent really matter..
ssd is faster but expensive you can choose taking small ssd, let's say 64gb and raid it up with hdd so het almost ssd speed with hdd space.. but if u don't need really fast loadings/file transfere/etc u'll be just ok with normal hdd. i use samsung f3 1tb (sata2) and it's just ok.. (but i'm thinking of getting 64gb ssd just becasue i want it xD)
