Yes, all series 8, series 9, and GT200 series cards can support gpu-based PhysX.

HOWEVER, these drivers / PhysX package only support the GT200 series cards and the G92 series cards (aka 9800GTX, 8800GT, 8800GS, 8800GTS 512mb, etc).

These are just preliminary beta drivers. I am sure that in a month when nvidia releases official PhysX drivers / packages (I am guessing 1 month), that they will fully support all 8, 9, and GT200 cards.

But for now the drivers only support GT200 and G92.

I cant watch blu-ray movies with 177.35. I would try 177.39 again to see if they work with HDCP/Bluray but I was getting OpenGL errors so I wouldnt even use them if they did.

Yes, this is an nVidia marketing ploy, because these drivers are SO being pushed from the nVidia site, and their newer cards like the 9600GT are supported by the new phsyX tech.

Oh wait, the drivers are an unofficial release with NO support or mention of the nVidia site, and G94 chips like the 9600GT do NOT work with Geforce phsyX with this release, and remember the 8800GT etc only work with inf modding as these drivers were meant as test/review drivers for the GTX-280.

Get your head out of your arse for a second here, and realise that by the time this tech even goes to an official BETA, the 8800GTX etc WILL be supported, and at this time it still requires a LOT of work (See the posts here ref UT3 physX maps), so you're not missing out.

Unless if you play 3DMark Vantage (Hint: You don't), you are not losing anything by not having these phsyX drivers, and by the time benefits are realised, you'll have them too.

To you, and all other whiners/conspiracy theorists: SHUT UP.

Jimmy45, yes it's fine, looks the same here :)

Btw, I notice a lot of people new to physx drivers...

Even without a physx card the demos (most of them) have always worked so this isn't something new.

Back in the day when Cell Factor was released and there was an on-going debate on the worth of a physx card someone discovered that a hardware card wasn't required to run it by activating software switch. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as having the real thing and performance overall wasn't that good. I tested at the time with a 7900gs and while playable fps was low.

    Obviously, hardware has got better and cpu's are more powerful than ever so it'll be interesting to see comparisons;

software vs physx hardware vs gfx

Don't think so because my 2 8800GTS512 cards work normally. No 100% fan problem here.

its not a 10% fan problem, but i set my fan to 100% all the time with rivatuner, and during game and even in desktop, its resets itself to 40% (the default value of the card).

im trying something else, insteat of fixed value, i changed it to automatic and set min duty cycle to 100%. for now its all good.

Dude, 10% was a typo:) I have no fan control issue at all with this driver and my 8800GTS512 cards. BTW. On my cards, 37% is default in the video bios.

Just a quickie. I have a Physx card in my PC, so is that going to be supported going forward alongside the GPU solution too?

My next card may have to be an Ati one if so I'll get the best of both worlds with Havok acceleration too.

    Weird frequencies

Since I got the 177.35 i have weird frequeny changes. My card changes from Standart 2D freq to 3D freq and back till it stays at 2D in almost every game.
    Anyone else got that problem?

See the changes. This was taken while playing CSS.

whats going to be better 2 x 8800gt's in sli and a physx card.

or jusst two 8800gt's in sli doing physx as well as if so how as if gpu doing physx must drop frame rate down

run 3dmark useing physx card get 10 frames more with the card.

and only get 15 frames on cpu test 2 without

so looks like GPU's have alot more power :( hope nvidia let people use GPU/PPU at same time
