finally, with V-sync off i'm getting double the frames! yay btw, yea in shift 1 menu was a bit confusing for me too
these things shouldn't be hidden or implemented like this tho. i mean, us end-users should not be required to browse through the folders and find the xml file, and edit graphic settings like a program debugger. they should've at least made the menus available in-game when they ported it, shows the effort given to the PC version by the devs really.
No no, don't get it wrong, most of these settings you can reach from menu I just show most custom way.
Review of the pc version here http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/03/29/shift-2-unleashed-review/ Very dodgy car handling once again, but does'nt comment on the graphics.
I'm unsure whether to buy this game or not. As a rule I like racing games but I found the first SHIFT a bit dry and lacking in cars and tracks. It also wasn't sure whether it was a sim or arcade racer as the handling wasn't in the slightest bit realistic IMO. SHIFT 2 sounds like it is more of the same but at least EA have dropped the misleading Need for Speed name from its title. It's a shame there isn't a demo really.
That review doesn't say anything really, it just praises the features of the game without actually talking about them, really, all I get from that review is that the racing is intense and cars are customizable? Uh, yeah, what about handling and such, among other things that could be described?
Danish reviews says that the game is POORLY optimized for PC, and it suffers badly because its a console port ... They say its bad ass for the consoles, but it SUCKS on the PC ... They recommend a NO BUY for the PC ... :0( PS. Just cancelled my preeorder till the game gets a patch or something ...
http://pc.jeuxactu.com/article-51697-shift-2-unleashed.html 14/20, says the AI is much too agressive and the cars are sliding a bit around corners.
is it too much to ask for an ea ripoff of gt5... If you could mix shift 1 graphics with iracing and not have a monthly fee EA your need for speed market has grown up, you have your underground\hot pursuit market for arcade kids...give us something with substance. Shift1 was a good step but this just looks like you wasted all that time and money to make the same game if not worse and added a helmet cam.
http://www.videogamer.com/pc/nfs_shift_2/review.html Here's a much more positive one. Not sure which would be more accurate, tho the handling and AI will most likely be an issue as even some of the positive reviews mention it (the 1up review for example). Seems to me this is going to be a hit or miss title.
Having seen the comparison pics on the previous page I don't think I'll be bothering. Looks like its gone backwards
ok, since the game has come out i think it´s time we post the performance on the game. with my specs on the left running on 1920x1200 with everything max except AA on normal and vsync off i get 45-56 fds and at night races 37-56.
Feels exactly like Shift 2, with an added helmet cam. It's also harder on your computer than Shift 1 is for some unknown reason, as Liniuxs shows the graphical differences. I run the game at 1600x1200, no v-sync, high textures res, 2x anisotropic, AA off, and the rest on medium @ ~25FPS. With everything on high I get the same FPS, so the bottleneck is my CPU.
