So are they planning release special version with more bloatware and you will need 4 processors to run os itself?

No. They are planning to release a Windows 10 version that can use up to 4 CPUs and also support ReFS.

Currently, Windows 10 can only use 2 CPUs, and doesn't support ReFS. For more CPUs and ReFS support, you need a Windows Server license (which is more expensive.) This is MS providing a cheaper way to use more CPUs and the new FS in a non-server OS.

If you need more than 4 CPUs, you'd still need Windows Server.

So in short: this is not for you and me. This is for systems that have multi-socket mainboards with 4 CPUs. For example 4 Xeon CPUs (quad Xeon mainboard) with 12 cores and 24 threads each, for a total of 48 cores and 96 threads total.

No, that is specifically reserved for Win 10 x65 chronek Malware Edition. To be released this August.

Jokes aside, this is purely for workstations.

It's better you stick to Windows 98 SE.

the cpu / ram limit of the windows editions is sick.

I never understood if there is real software problem behind it or not. Multi cpu configuration are possible just with specific cpu that can handle to work with more cpus.

16 cores or 16 cpus should be sort of transparent for the OS.
    Maybe i m wrong.

This is a licensing issue, not a software issue. People who need multiple processors can afford to buy more expensive licenses. The less expensive versions of Windows have the functionality removed or locked.

That's how software businesses work :p

This is only for mainstream OS :)

But the 4 CPU add is a great improvement, lot of workstations who use more tan 2 CPU, were obliged to use W10 server wich is lot more expensive and don't need most specific feature of this edition.

Of course i am talking about those who use Windows... most other OS don't have this limit :)

I was joking, it will be only more expensive marketing trick, with few things unlocked...
Btw when there is no iso in msdn to download every user can get personalized windows edition with media creation tool and he would not know that....

The Media Creation tool is the first link they give you when you go to Windows.com. It's not exactly secret.

Its nice that MS is doing this. I'm sure that alot of workstation users who need more than 2 Processors would have said about time they did this no need for us to spend 1000 bucks on an OS. Too bad MS wouldn't fab a gaming edition of Windows 10 that have less bloat rather than have that built-in gaming mode. I mean look at Linux there are certain Linux distros that are geared towards gaming.

Hopefully MS will add more bloatware to Windows 10 as it clearly needs more.

    Really?

Is this the first step to Windows for Workstations per core licensing model? Oh why did IBM have to fail with OS/2 and why has Linux failed to become a viable mainstream desktop alternative?

I think it is per socket, not core.

Best aspect about this ReFS according to wikipedia,

Because consumers are too lazy to put the effort in and want everything to be plug and forget.

Using a computer shouldn't have to be an effort, they're here to make life easier for us, so the less you need to do to get them working the better, plus 90% of computer owners haven't got a clue

That said, dumbing them down to the point MS are trying is going a bit far

MS don't have a choice because of how poplar smartphones are now compared to 10 years ago. In order to attract customers to the Windows 'brand', they need to develop software that looks and feels like a mobile device. Still doesn't mean I like what they are doing but I can at least understand it from a business aspect.

Windows Phone was dead before it was released, they're basing their PC OS on a dead/dying platform, dumb

Well they have Xbox Live too. Both can be intergrated to offer better customisation. While at the same time making cross pc game development easier.
