I have never bought a tablet and would like some help deciding what I need. Main use will be web browsing, youtube, movies/shows from netflix, hulu , lite gaming and online purchases. Don't need any kind of cell service as this will be used with my wifi. Would like a 10 inch or bigger screen . Price $225. Thanks.
Well, same thing here. Last month wife asked, begged to upgrade her tablet. She used an iPad 2 since 2012. Bought her an Samsung Tab S6 for two reasons. First and foremost I can flash Lineage OS on it. Second, had the hardware requirements and looks and fitted in the budget. And third, it was elegible for an 10% discount.
Personally, I would spend extra $100 and bought the cheapest iPad, but if you can’t go further Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is the best option.
Unless you go on eBay or Amazon and search for something used or refurbished you're looking at a minimum of $320 at least to spend. The 10-inch 8th Gen Apple iPad Wifi-only goes for $329.99 The Microsoft Surface Go goes for $379.99 Outside of those two, the quality of the OS and the device degrades. I realize android is popular but I don't recommend it. I am not a fan of Google's quality assurance.
You should know that some Android tablets can be flashed with custom ROMs, LineageOS being most popular. Removing Google spyware. But also removes convenience, to which modern society is built upon.
