Hey guys , 2 days before I got my gtx 465 , and now I have completed my rig ,
    specs:
    EVGA SR-2
    Xeon E5603 1.6GHZ - OC to 2.5GHz
Corsair Dominaor GT 2000mhz 6GB ram
    Galaxy GTX 465 vga
    1200W Thermaltake PSU

btw: evrything is working properly except my gtx 465 running at x4 speed.
here is a screen shot [IMG]

    look it runs at v2.0 x16 @ x4 v2.0
    and look at this: [IMG]

in nvidia inspector it shows as x16, but in GPU - Z and CPU - Z it shows as x4
    I have tried 285 , 310.24 drivers but it still doesn't change.
I have removed the vga and switched to all 7 pcie lanes but still the x4 speed.
    temps are 42oC idle , 79oC load , ambient 27oC
I dont know why is this showing the speed like this.
and I have flashed the vbios to gtx 470 , but it still stuck at x4.
    guys please help

its prob a power saving feature, try running something that will put a load on the card and check it while its running

edit - didnt see the render test running in the background

Its a power saving feature. Put some load on the card and see if changes. Make sure the card is in the top slot

yeah mate, op your particular GTX 465 is not flashable. your card does not have the same amount of memory chips as the 470. i recommend you re flash it back to the gtx 465 bios.

Yea its not a flashable version, but still even though I flashed it to gtx 465 vbios , the x4 stays.

Maybe that is a defective video card? Any pins on the connector bent or dirty?

Try removing all the other cards and just install the card giving the issue, see if it ramps up to 16x.

Clean the card's PCI-E connector with isopropyl alcohol and a Q-Tip/Microfiber cloth. Also, try dusting out the slot it's in.

If the right pins simply aren't making contact it may make it run at 4x, highly unlikely tho. Tried resetting cmos or putting the card in another motherboard?
