Epic's legal team is the hardest working department in that company.

Don't Amazon and many other big stores have their own apps for smartphones? If you buy something through them, it's against the app store terms of service? Banks also have their own apps. If you transfer money using such an app, Google gets a 30% share? That can't be right.

    First Apple, and now Google.
Epic really likes to make friends along the way.

I get the impression that any money transfers that have nothing to do with your phone/tablet are not violating the ToS. In other words, if the product wouldn't make sense in the Google Play store, it isn't something Google will ask for a % cut of. I don't know if that's actually how it works but it seems like this is the case.

It won't end well for Epic. The problem is they went alone into this when really they needed everyone behind it. Now that everyone has seen the preliminary outcomes of the court cases, then, there's even less appetite for change. Everyone is making money during these covid times, no-one except Epic wants to rock the boat. They totally miscalculated the timing and without wide-spread dev support its dead in the water.

This is interesting, especially Google looking for money from a banned game they banned and don't support :)

On other hand it's easy with Epic ("yes i tried to stab you in the back, but it's in the name of freedom, for all human kind..." ) AND if Apple loose last round then Google follow (GAFAM with G like Google, A like Apple... 99% of smartphone's OS)
2 reasons for Google to do it (on many more).

honestly it dont mater to me what EPIC start and did purposely was never ment to beneficial to end user it was just benefit there profits nothing more nothing less and dragged everyone else in to it, Epic cant say they dont do same with there own store and there royalties just like the cant say they did throw millions if not 100 of millions at dev give away free games in attempt to get people to make account, in hopes of they spending money there

You mean more "jackpot", friends incoming for 1 year reached what they expected for nearly all the life of their game... And they are not alone in this situation.
(i should have chosen the "fun" part of computer instead of the "serious" one lol)

Can't wait for Epic to get thrown on their ass for the bare minimum of acting in bad faith by purposefully breaching contract with no intent to honor it. And then trying to throw money at PR to make themselves look like the poor little guys. (With the same garbage they spun as they started to throw money at Kickstarter funded games and other exclusives with their PR nonsense)
Sweeney is a snake and is at the very least very good at putting on a public poker face to spin the narrative to suit his needs.
Not a fan of Apple or Google but in this case, I am.
The only thing Epic is good at at this point is exploiting their employees and throwing away money.
