    Hey everybody,

It's been a while since I've visited this forum. Some of you may remember me.

I just finished cleaning my PC this morning when I put everything back and I plug my power supply back in to boot up the computer, the lights such as the; clr cmos, power, reset, and the onboard led switch on the back of the mobo, only blink. They don't stay constant and I cannot turn on the computer. I was wondering what is causing this. I think it might be the power supply but I don't have an extra one laying around to test it.

All my hardware is on my profile.

    Thanks.

Double check all your connections. If not, could be a faulty PSU.

What exactly did you do? Working psu, bit of a clean, broken psu. Sounds wrong to me, more like your mobo is dead.

I've seen something like this before aswell, where the battery was dead. Also try clearing the CMOS, just incase, you never know.

Are you getting any Bleep Codes?

No beep codes. I can't even turn on the computer. The lights blink on and off. I took out the onboard battery for 30 seconds then put it back but still no luck. I have also unplugged everything and just plugged in the motherboard and the 8pin and 24pin plug just to see if it will power on but nothing also. Just the lights blink on and off. I will try and get a video of what I mean about the lights.

As RedDog mentioned, check the battery voltage.
If its 3.0V or below, its due for replacement.
If its really low, it might be the cause of your problem.

If the battery is ok, unplug your PSU from the PC (all connections) and on the big motherboard connector, short green to black.
This tells it to power up.
If it doesnt power up, its got a problem.

I'll try that psu trick first. Then I'll get a battery tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll let you guys know the results tomorrow.

PSU powered up. I change the battery with a new one and the lights are still blinking.

Unplug everything from the PSU except the motherboard and gfx card (if powered externally) and remove any cards except the graphics card.
Unplug all hard drives and USB devices etc.
Now see if it will power up.
We can work from there if it does.

I have the same mobo in my old pc.
Those other blue lights are the "install in the dark/no flashlight needed" leds, which didn't help me crap when building my rig, anyway.
Try switching the lights off, I don't know what it is, but that just seems it's powering for a second, and then off, on and off etc..
But normally, those blue leds shouldn't even be lit.

Well I just took everything out and just tried it without the case and found out that one of the studs holding the mobo from touching the case was grounding out the whole mobo so I guess I'll be buying a new case. Been looking into a new case anyways so I guess this gives me a reason to buy a new one.

    Unscrew the offending stud .
Rip/cut it out if it wont unscrew.
