Hey now that's cool.. I didn't know that.

    --

My first screenshot was when I was fighting a flying guy called Tommasi, this is in dx12 mode... I was trying to take a screenshot of the player character and Tommasi and then noticed the texture on the lady's face and was like wtf I don't remember it looking like that in dx11.

dx12, tommasi is like right above the characters head xD

Then started the game back up in dx11 and took the following screenshot, it looks better than the dx12 one.

Then thought I better take a screenshot of dx12 mode in the same spot with the same lighting so I did and it's like the dx11 one again and now I have no idea what was going on haha.

Indeed what @RealNC said. dx12 exe should be in the folder you dont need epic launcher. When i finished the game dx11 wasnt even an option and it runned fine on amd gpus so i recommend you test both.

I find that dx11 is generally just better than dx12, as long as you dont get cpu bottlenecked in dx11... probably because nvidia / amd is alot more in control of what happens in dx11.

Make sure Windows 11 HAGS is off when playing game... with RT enabled at least. Frame pacing is much more consistent. I also disabled Control Flow Guard for the Control's dx12 exe. Way smoother now.

Didn't need to do any of that guff, played the game start to finish at max settings/RT/DLSS@4K, all DLC. Perfectly smooth and consistent 13.3ms (75Hz Vsync) once the initial set of DX12 shaders had compiled and cached. Excellent game.

i admire what ray tracing offers in this game, however it s all dark places and inside environment, it made me feel depressed after a while of playing it

I normally don't think RT reflections are worth the performance hit, but they are in Control because it alters the look of the game so much and there is so many glass windows and Black Rock Quarry looks great with them on.

I have an RTX 2070 with a 75Hz 3880*1440 ultra-wide. I need every trick in the book to make RT run well in this game. I'm using DLSS on the 2nd to highest setting (800 something vertical resolution) with AMD CAS injected at .900 level to get rid of the blur.

HAGS off and Control Flow Guard off really did help with the performance. I would assume that people with more powerful GPUs simply are masking the hit those two "features" make.

I'm fortunate enough to have a 4090 and the performance is breathtaking - my 'issue' in Control (and some other games) is between DLSS on or off - turning it on is 99% imperceptable but the one place it will always be visible if you examine a bit is in reflections and puddles. But you're right, RT on in Control is superb, but I say that with a caution because I've never turned it off.
