Every time i try to overclock i get this message: Also, i unlocked all the pixel and vertex shaders, would that effect me overclocking?
your core is too low for a 6800 thats why it failed that test try up around 450/1200 mark EDIT: click default button then work up in 5 mhz on the core and .10 on the mem until you get a stable oc
Thats low for a 6800. Are you sure you installed your new drivers and uninstalled and cleaned your old drivers?
I have a 6800nu, thats the right speeds. Also, when i lock the pixel and vertex shaders up i can overclock but when i unlock them again my speeds go back to default and i can't overclock anymore
I have the same problem with an 5200 FX and was due to the mems If I decreased the mem´s clock (very decreased )I could increase the core clock. Strange but true, it may be for the quality of the mems, or they have bad refrigeration, or there is a curse over us, I don´t know but that was my problem. I solved it downloading the detonator 4286 but with this drivers, I saw artifacts in the screen and the benchmarcks and games went like shots (when I OC the mems of the videocard)
325Mhz is right for your core I had the same problem with my asus 6800, open rivatuner and go to power user, then click the plus sign near \nvidia\overclocking and insert a 1 next to disableinternalclocktest, then tick the box to the left, now try to overclock using rivatuner. If this does not work then u probably have the same problem as me, however, u will be able to overclock by editing ur bios file using NiBiTor and vgatest, I can give u proper instructions on how to use these utils if u like, but I would not recommend a bios flash unless ur pretty good with pc's and u are aware of the risk. just reply if u need anymore help.
I already tried that thing with rivatuner and it didn't work . Also, i dont want to mess around with the bios, but thanks anyway.
But did you looked if the card needed an extra power-plugin? I have an AGP 6600 and it needs more power coming from another cable.
Re: Re: Can't Overclock? NONSENSE! POPPYCOCK! I have a 350w PSU and I'm able to get it to 430/895 stable in benches and 420/890 stable in games!!! All on a dell 350w generic PSU!!!
Yes, since you have unclocked the vertex/pipes, overclocking cannot be done normally. I suggest flashing your bios with the same one but with higher clock settings if you wish to overclock.
No its not, thats standard clock speeds on a regular nVidia Geforce 6800, because i got a BFG Tech 6800 128mb OC, and its suppose to be overclocked, hence the OC, and it came at 350/700, from its default of 325. Thats what it said on the box, but most brand name 6800's come a little OC'd on the core. He's probably just got a generic or an off brand name, or probably the vendor's just left it at stock speeds. But i dont know why it would be doing that, only other option you have, is to flash bios.
stock speeds for a 6800 are 325/700 which is correct... -check and tell us what psu do u have and how many amps on the +12v rail it has. -make sure the molex connector is plugged. -try changing drivers -if all of this didn't work, disable internal driver test.
