I am having a bit trouble over clocking my A64 X2 4200+. I have read the overclocking guides but they don't see to help me. I did most of what they said. I have left the same multilpier (11), changed the vcore to 1.225, kept the htt multiplier at 5, turned off amd cool & quiet. Right now I am running at 2310MHz (11x210) and this is like the highest I can go. Screenshot:
"changed the vcore to 1.225" thats your problem right there.. to go higher you need atleast, i mean atleast 1.4v, you can get to 2.4 without increasing voltage..
try voltage at 1.4v Ram speed to 667 and set the fsb to 237 and you will get 2.6ghz. Should be easily done with that chip as i have the exact same stepping etc as yours. Just so you know no two CPU's will be the same, some can overclock loads orthers just can't. But you still should be able to get past 2.3. Oh and try my settings at your own risk, it works for me fine but i cannot vouch for some one else's system.
I am now running N00bst3r's settings. Thanks for your guys input too. I now have it running at 2584MHz (11x236) my board doesn't have 1 increment marks. Now I should work on tightening my ram timings? Screenshot:
Hmm, i think i may give this a shot. Ive mangaed to get too 2.55 stable with no voltage increases. Good job guys. :approval:
Well im glad my settings worked for you too. You can try pushing it a little more if you have decent cooling, but like i said im glad it worked. Your ram should be able to handle 4-4-4-12 easy at the ram speed its at present.
Yeah I pushed it up to about 2630Mhz and i'll stop there. I tried to go 11x250 but it won't boot into windows I'll just keep it at 11x239 for now. And I have a Zalman CNPS9500 AM2. Thanks!
