    Issues Resolved in Version 77.72

I don't want to spam, so I just post what has been fixed in 77.72 Forceware release for that guy who asked.

This following are changes made and issues resolved since driver version 71.89:

    Single GPU Issues

    • GeForce 6800 Ultra, Windows XP: The opening videos are corrupted
in the game Silent Hunter 3.
    • GeForce 6800: Slow performance in the game Star Wars Lego when
played at a resolution of 1600x12200.
    • GeForce 6800 Ultra: Stuttering occurs in the game World of Warcraft.
    • GeForce 6200 32MB with TurboCache, Windows XP Media Center
Edition 2005, HDTV: Setting HD modes, such as 720p or 1080i, does
not take effect until after you restart the computer.
    • GeForce 6200 with TurboCache, Windows XP: The left side of Half
Life 2 is blacked out when 2x or 4x antialiasing is enabled.
    • GeForce 6200: There is screen corruption when antialiasing is enabled
    within 3DMark05.
    • GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005,
NVTV: Live TV hangs the system when run in full screen mode.
    • GeForce FX 5950: The game Ultra Battle for Middle-earth crashes to
the desktop with a Direct3D error.
    • GeForce FX 5200: There is corruption on the water in the 3DMark05
    Canyon Flight Game test.

    SLI Related Issues

    • GeForce 6800 GT/Ultra, SLI: Half Life 2 crashes when switching the
aspect ratio from 4:3 to wide-screen on a wide-screen LCD panel.
    • GeForce 6800 GT, SLI: Flickering corruption occurs with several
games when played with 2x antialiasing enabled and using SLI SFR
    mode.
    • GeForce 6800 Ultra, SLI: The computer crashes when setting a
widescreen flat panel resolution to the native 1900x1200 with SLI
    mode enabled.
    • Dual GeForce 6600 GT, SLI, Windows XP: There is texture corruption
in the game Toca Race Driver 2 when played at 1600x1200 resolution,
with 4x antialiasing and SLI mode enabled.
    • GeForce 6600 GT, SLI, Windows XP: Frame skipping occurs in the
game PainKiller with SLI mode enabled.
    • GeForce 6600, SLI: Screen goes black momentarily during Tomb
Raider—Angel of Darkness with SLI mode enabled.
    • GeForce 6 Series, SLI, Windows XP: Light sources show through solid
objects in the game Halo with SLI mode enabled.
    • Quadro FX 4400, SLI, Windows XP: There is corruption in the
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory menu when changing video options.

    General Issues

    • Desktop corruption occurs with VIA KT880 chipset.
This was not an NVIDIA bug. See “VIA and ATI AGP 3.0 Chipsets” on
    page 14 for further explanation.

Re: Issues Resolved in Version 77.72

This is what is on page 14:
    • Problem
The use of AGP-protocol cycles for coherent access to regular system
memory results in data corruption on systems based on VIA and ATI AGP
    3.0-compatible chipsets.
AGP-protocol cycles to the AGP aperture are not affected.
    • Workaround
To correct the data corruption problem, the Release 75 driver exclusively
uses PCI-protocol cycles to access regular system memory when it detects a
VIA or ATI AGP 3.0-compatible chipset.

Would this mean when it detects ANY VIA chipset, it will go into PCI mode? I hope not....

First official drivers to fully support Opengl 2.0
Does anyone know what the difference between the stepping stone of 1.5 and 2.0 are?

User with VIA K8T800Pro chipset here.
    Problem:
All videos played with Window Media Player 10, Divx Player, PowerDVD have very high gamma + distorsion. Would post a screenshot but "printscreen" doesn't work.

    ForceWare 77.72 Win98/ME
    ForceWare 77.72 WinNT
    ForceWare 77.72 Win2000/XP
A differtent download for different OS supported.

Mr.DJ posted a workaround for that on page two.
Annoying thing is that all colors look all trippy again (in MP10) after a reboot :(

Can't show it as well. Taking screenshots from scenes played in Media Player isn't done that easy ;)
DivX Player 6 shows all colors fine though.

Buggy driver. Wiping it right now. At last a reason to see how the good old 76.45s will run with San Andreas!

    @ FatBoyNL
Thanks for the tip, missed that one. Oh well, went back to 77.13. Any performance increase or decrease is rather minimum anyway.
Forgot to mention that Rivatuner o/c was disabled with 77.72.

Try Tools -> Options -> Performance -> Advanced -> and disable overlays. You can also try taking off video acceleration then take the screenshot.

I've had these drivers installed on my machine for about an hour and in the last hour I've had to troubleshoot multiple problems.

Firstly, GTA: San Andreas wouldn't start, upon further investigating I learned that deleting the graphic settings file would make it start again however the colors for the intro videos are extremely bloomed. The games settings were reset to default so I put them back to my normal settings and got a blue screen crash with nv4dsp.dll at fault. When I got back into windows and GTA:SA every time I tried to change settings my PC would automatically reboot...

I tried playing the BF2 demo to see if there were any other problems and coincidentally it ran ultra smooth.

The color bloom issue; it seems the settings in video overlay are all funky, they're set to 6.0 after install and if you set them to default they goto 3.61. The lowest possible setting is .50 (which looks more normal on my LCD than 3.61) however it is too dark. There doesn't seem to be a way to set it to the normal 1.0 gamma...

So far these drivers really really suck for me. I'm having crashes in windows as well. I really hope these drivers haven't destroyed my 6800GT.

I wonder who released these drivers and what they were smoking?

edit: it seems you can fix the retardedly bright gamma bloom by selecting advanced mode in the overlay control panel. This will make the level settings flat.
