clearly people have zero idea about how much micro-electronic products cost to manufacture
more complex than any other industry in the world
uses a tremendous amount of ressources, more than a small town
if an important machine is stopped for a problem the company loses 300'000$/day
several rooms each with above 1 million watts of machines running 365/365 24/24
but yeah it's cheaper to make than a guitar o_O
this is why Intel is in trouble currently without a good yield you bleed money hardcore so it's not worth making chips

    bonus video :
a rare view of the behind the scenes at Nvidia, not sure how this was cleared for release, wouldn't have allowed it :p don't miss the engineer comment at 13:20 about yields and money loss

True, same with my rig, but I know it's my CPU that's at fault here. :D

Reverse psychology. A rumor floats the 3090 may cost $2000. At release it turns out to be $1200-1300. Everyone runs out to buy one thinking they are getting a deal. Before the rumor most were stating the the card needs to be less then the 2080ti.

I still think this is rumor, and if true.. the 3090 is a Titan card.

If the 3090 is the new Titan then i can believe in the price otherwise i find it hard to believe...

Personally, i´m not too worried, my 1080Ti is still going strong so if Nvidia keeps the stupid prices then i´ll keep my 1080Ti. And who knows, maybe i´ll upgrade my CPU instead and finally move to Ryzen.

Basically, i want Nvidia and AMD to fight for my money and offer something compelling otherwise they can keep their shine GPUs.

Desperately waiting for the 4900X or something like that :D

You see, I'm going to be throwing around money if they finally get their act together for reasonable 4K gaming (at this point idk which vendor), new screen (maybe 4K as long as it's got VRR), new rig alltogether etc.

Intel are having trouble because they seem to have so many internal problems everywhere throughout the company, and I wouldn't lean too heavily on using that video as an excuse for Nvidia's pricing. Yields improve over time but really it is the same for every company manufacturing these products. The 2080ti seems to have ruined some people, people who are now willing to accept this as the new normal.

Yes, waiting for 4000-series is an even better idea :D

I also hope that 4K gaming someday becomes reasonable and possible (in all games).

If the 3090 ends up the real name it will be flagship without a Ti moniker, wiping the floor with the 3080 Ti. So to base price criteria on card names and not performance is outlandish.

This is true since the PS4 came out. With those new consoles is maybe even more blatant.

Nvidia and Intel Prices are why I do not use their hardware anymore in my personal or business customers systems when I can get Equal or Greater performance for lower price with AMD. AMD Processors and GPUs are going to dominate Intel and Nvidia combined.

Guys, you all know it, when it comes to NVIDIA pricing, if it performs better, it costs more. There is no way in hell a 3090 (or 3080 ti) is going to cost about the same as a 2080 ti, especially if the 3080 (not Ti) performs better than the 2080 ti. Keep in mind that the price/performance ratio drops as the performance gets higher.
Also, NVIDIA has been able to control inventory so that last gen cards don't get heavily discounted before the launch of the new line.

WHAT???? Rubbish. Most normal people have to buy their card online from some e-tailer like scan or amazon.... no way for us to NOT pay 23% VAT and all the other middlemen. I mean for 2000 EURO,my government would be getting 460 EURO out of me, for nothing.

The 1080 ti launched, what, around 2 years after the 980 ti at +$50 and offered around 80 percent more performance. I hate that people seem to forget how things were even 4 years ago and just accept this post-turing bull5h1t.

To be cost competitive with consoles, their card with similar performance to RTX 2080 (which is where next gen consoles will sit) will be at around 500 mark, I am guessing that will be 3070, and we can just scale from there.

    3060 - $350
    3070 - $500
    3080 - $700
3090 - $1000 (considering there is no 3080ti, which is what the rumours have been saying till now. But if 3080Ti exists this is where 3080Ti will sit, and 3090 will be a Titan replacement, a halo product)

Again, this is just a guess. So, all these $2000 rumours could be nVidia testing waters, or could be just rumours.

If this wont be true, why would anyone even buy a PC for gaming anymore?

EDIT: Found some interesting info for this prediction. XFX RX 5700 XT Triple Dissipation 8GB GDDR6, which is probably going to compete with 3060 is already CAD478 or USD360. So, next gen that competes with 5700xt or slightly beats it will be around USD350. So, the numbers above stand.

nVidia's worst decision could be increase the price, with COVID19 still around fewer and fewer people gonna buy those things and go straight to consoles.

Why would you buy $500 GPU if you can buy a console and seal the deal(assuming you don't own a PC or just want to be gaming on more budget friendly option).

I hope that for $500-600 i can upgrade the 1080TI to something that gives 2080TI performance or even better.

Those rumors are based on Nvidia having to bring forward the Ampere Titan in order to compete with Big Navi when the AMD card was also rumoured to be powered by magic and offer 50% over 2080ti.

NVIDIA can make soup if it costs 2000. I won't buy it EVER! I hope Intel will join the war and help bring prices down (yes, I'm naive).
