No it's not, even in the US the last couple of months has seen the PS3 outsell the 360. As far as I can tell in the main regions we focus on (America, Japan and Europe) the PS3 is selling better than the 360 right now.
http://www.i4u.com/article20270.html Fact is sony is being outsold. Not that ps3 is bad just xbox360 is selling more right now. I think it will change at christmas but time will tell.
I`m willing to bet that the reason sales have shot up is because owners of older 360 models are fed up of returning broken consoles to M$, and decided that the newer, cheaper consoles are somehow less likely to suffer RROD failure. I`m on my second, and last 360, after that fails (and it will) ,then a PS3 will be my next choice.
No problems with my PS3. Plays my ps2 online games, plays my ps3 games online, I rent movies, and play bluray movies. Love it. My 360, yeah I can rent a lot more content, and play more games, but I just feel that my PS3 is a better made console...
I am glad to here that vbetts as this will be my next console next year. I love my ps1+2 and will undoubtedly love my ps3 too.
Oh yeah. even more when the PS3 has better media streaming than what the 360 has. Only thing I wish the PS3 had that the 360 had, was more customized dashboard/XBM. That, and Netflix.
Just a tough I had. Anyone know if the PS3 is able to verify if the PS2 game you play on it, is legal or pirated. That alone would be a good reason to cut backward compatibility. Edit: Never mind I found the answer to that myself. Can not be done unless your PS3 lies on the floor in several pieces. That counts as a no, I think. BTW I came across this hilarious line... "my brother accidentally put a copied ps2 game into my play station 3 and now it won't read any disk. did it break? or is it even possible to break?" ROLF
Netflix could be added, but we don't know for PS3. There haven't been any info or news, hell sony just got in downloadable movies on their console. Ryu5uzaku, I didn't say that the 360 streaming is bad, but I just feel that the PS3 streaming is better.
ar rightyo never mind then i for some reason never got streaming on ps3 working... then again xbox 360 has worked nicely from the beginning... mind you i had ps3 for very short time so i didnt look into it that much in the end
I had a 360 for over 2 years and not once could i get it to connect to the PC, drove me round the bend, even with the official MS media programs and WMP 11..........PS3 and Tversity did it first time, and i can stream 5 gig movies right onto the PS3 HD in 6 mins......now thats ease of use.
I had my 360 for 6 months, I had saved money for a PS3 but it was delayed. The US got its consoles but us EU people were left in the dirt. So i decided to buy a 360 instead, i had bought a Xbox1 a year prior to this(had PS1 and PS2 since launch) 360 was good, but was too noisy and RROD happened to me twice. When the PS3 launched in Europe i sold all my 360 gear and bought a PS3 with games etc. I haven't looked back since. A friend was going to buy a ps3 about 6 months ago, but was broke so he bought a Wii. Its fun, but i still prefer my PS3. I have PS1 and PS2 compat. on my console but i've NEVER used it. To busy playing PS3 games. On the other hand i played alot of Xbox1 games on my 360. I'm thinking of buying a 360 again in the future, they will be cheap and hopefully quiter. And no RROD too(well maybe).
We have the main reason for the success of the Ps2 and now Ps3- brand recognition over quality/ value. Hate to say it but it’s almost inevitable that Sony will hold out for the millions of "everyman" customers who will replace their playstations with the latest iterations to play the latest incremental updates to Fifa 2010 and PGA tour. The brand is synonymous with being a standard, grannies know what playstation is. Also I feel blue ray only really takes advantage of the 0.5 percent of the what 120 odd year history of cinema that has been purposely shot with HD in mind- whenever I see a film that isn’t shot on HD camera or is CG, I just see the film grain of the 35 mm camera showing up in darker scenes on Blue Ray- watch the opening sequence of Casino Royal on Blue Ray, the computer generated animation is sharp as all hell then a silhouette of 007 fades into real footage of Daniel Craig- with a world of film grain next to the clean graphics. HD res are all good for games etc where it’s not limited by the source material. I actually think Blue Ray won’t see the adoption rate of DVD due to downloaded content becoming mainstream once DVD's become old hat in quite a number of years. Sorry for the essay ha Mike
I'm gonna see how much I can get for my 360, and get an elite. I don't like the 360 to much in white to be honest.
