Pipe actication with the new rivatuner!!?

flashing my 6800le increased my core by 25 mhz which resulted in about 3-400 3dmarks03... and if all 12 pipes were activated, I would've seen a much higher score.

 

whats your 3dmak03 score with the stock 8 pipes ?

 

okay, i have some bada*s cooling on my card... but it wont let me overclock the RAM. what gives.

 

maybe the LE has 2.8ns ram for sure, whereas the 6800nu's have maybe had 2.5ns/2.2ns which is why they clock so high. i havent looked at my leadtek 6800 ram but at 918mhz i cant see it being 2.8ns (700mhz) or 2.5ns.

2.8ns should cap at 700mhz
2.5ns should cap at 800mhz
2.2ns should cap at 900mhz


look like they have cut cost on the ram for sure...

 

I get around 6700 3dmarks03 with the standard 6800LE - 300/700 and 8 pipes.

 

no, it doesnt look like you activated 4 more pipes

i hope i am more lucky with my aopen, i am optimistic about my chances to flash to an nu, couse i got the exact same cooling that is allsow placed on the 6800nu, gt, and ultra. and i get a quite nice score with mij default 8 pipelines @ 370/750: 8194 3d marks!

btw. what bioses have you tried on your card? i found a leadtek and a default nvidia bios.

and has anyone managed to flash his 6800le succesfully to an 6800nu enabeling the 4 pipelines?!

I get about 8500 3dmark03 with 400/850. I've tried with nvidia's, leadtek's and gigabyte's.

It looks like the 6800le may be even more disabled than we'd like it to be (just 4 vertex processors versus 5 on 6800). But maybe it isn't true.. atleast they didn't get the core mhz right.

 

i flashed my card with the leadtek, it works fine ad in everest it says i have 12 pixel pipelines, is this a correct reading? i damn hope so...

i get 7712 3d marks @ the deafault speads of the 6800nu, i am going to try the nvidia bios, see if it makes any differance

Have a look at your Multitext.-Fill-Rate Result in 3D-Mark2001 or 03. You should get around 3800 MT/s (not OC) if you have 12 Pipes . 8 working Pipes should show around 2600 MT/s.

 

I bet there are only three vertex processors on 6600 cards...

 

Thanks for the info unwinder. So what chance do we have for rivatuner is going to enable (if possible) 1 vertex processor and unluck the 4 pipes? are we talking 50/50 or zero?

 

the bios flash didn't gain exta pipes

is there a way to check if i got 5 vertex processers instead of 4?

Damn. I can't wait untill the 6th! But I think my board is going back to the store... to be honest if the bios flash didn't work I don't expect rivatuner to work miracles.

 

Assuming RivaTuner can unlock all 16 pipes without problems, and no artifacting occurs, would it then be safe to flash my 6800 into an ultra and back to unlock the pipes in hardware?

 

The only problem I see with that is core speed capability and definitely ram speed. There are ways to flash it but not necessarily to Ultra speeds. Additionally the extra vertex shader may be bad or good as well. I will play around with the RT until you are comfortable that it works right in all games then flash it appropriately and I am sure there are other forums within guru3d.com that would be more than happy to help you with that.

BTW I changed my mind and went with the TDH 400 since that is the one Unwinder had success with. Kinda like that big old copper HSF though too.
