Microsoft Fall 2020 Windows 10 Update will Push Edge Browser as Default Option

It does not really matter as long as browser people install is not tampered with or default browser is not restored to Edge after some shady update.

Glad I use Win10 Enterprise on everyone of my computers. I do not have to deal with this nonsense.

 

I do believe they meant that the Chromium-based Edge is the new Microsoft default browser (opposed to the older EdgeHTML-based version). Whether they change the default browser setting in Windows remains to be seen but if they were fined for it before, I doubt they would do it again.

 

Till the time they will say that the new Edge is perfect for the Enterprise too.

 

Important is that they push this on the windows 7 versions that still use the default ie11 version.

 

The new Edge (Chromium)is actually quite good. I use it as my default.

 

If Microsoft limits my choice of browser, then...and only then, will I have an issue with all of this.
Why the heck should they promote somebody elses products over their own.
No other corporation would do that...why should they?

 

Meh.. The new chromium Edge is my fav browser now. So, I couldn't care less.

This would be news if they were force uninstalling other browsers.

 

I'm on 1903 update and that crap was shoved up my ass on an update a couple weeks ago. Even made himself comfortable on my "windows" bar. Removed the shortcuts and moved on with firefox, but f*cking M$ man!

gpedit.msc is a cure all to whatever Microsoft thinks is best for us. A little registry tweaking tends to deal with these like issues also. Everyone on the home versions is pretty much screwed.

 

End of the day Windows needs to have a default broswer on a clean fresh windows install, and IE is fine in that regard, if edge is becoming the new IE thats fine. I think this is fine, as I dont think its up to windows to install every browser there is? and we have been at least given the choice to then choose are own. Would be a bit of an issue if we had no broswer to start from... have to keep a USB with google chrome on it haha

That said, f**k them if they force us to use one or default to one. If on a clean install it just has edge and I get the choice to install firefox, chrome, oppa. whatever cool. But if they force me into a browser I dont want then not happy. Edge has got a lot better sure, but it would still be my 3rd or 4th choice and personally I like to use mutiple web broswers.

 

Why are people upset by this? They're pushing the new browser as default for the OS instead of the crap IE or HTML based Edge...that's good news since the new chromium based Edge is actually very good. If you don't like it or want to "stick it to the man" use your own browser and that's it. It's not like their going to uninstall your browser and force you to use only theirs.

Title should also include " but it wont stop you from using other browsers like explorer or google chrome" just to calm the M$ haters down, takes less than 30secs to switch the default and if you use another like google as your default it wont even change that, regardless the new edge is a fast improvement over the old

I've been using Edge Chromium since beta, it's great and should absolutely replace the older EdgeHTML.

If you're not happy with M$ there's always Chromium or Linux...

 

Android has also chrome as default browser despite having webview implemented a chromium based asset built in OS. Why are you bitching about edge? I would fine whole EU and users if I were MS.
