So Reddit has compiled a list of some fixes may be helpful https://www.reddit.com/r/metro/comm...20e0976e43&utm_source=embedly&utm_term=aqu5co Some Fixes For The PC Release [Discussions] So, yeah. The game is out on PC and broken as hell. For Starters, if you purchase a game key for steam then you might be missing the exe files which is preventing you from running the game. FIX: https://steamcommunity.com/app/412020/discussions/0/3658515990045299519/?ctp=6 If your game constantly keeps crashing then turn off DX12 and switch to DX11. For changing FOV and Motion Blur you'll need to edit the config files. More info Here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/412020/discussions/0/3658515990045444304/ Sound Issues? yea since the update this morning now i cant even get into the game whatever they did with the patch broke the game for a ton of people. nm the version mismatch between steam/epic versions.
Well boyos. Looks like I found a show stopper bug for me. There is a part where you are on the train and asked to look for radio transmissions. When asked, the radio icon on left of screen is supposed to light up a white color and Artyom auto turns to the left and starts adjusting the Radio dial. My icon doesn`t light up white and Artyom doesn`t turn towards the radio. So unless this auto sequence happens, I`m pretty much dead in the water. There is absolutely nothing I can do. So I am thinking this is a bug.
Narrow FOV and forced motion blur should be things of the past, but I guess there are worse ways to mask low fps in unoptimized games.

REALLY!!!?????? 29FPS???? I have seen it drop to 27fps in certain areas! THIS IS LIKE METRO 2033 2010 release all over again. The game hovers around 30-50fps depending on the scene even looking up at the sky it only goes to around 70fps which is just insane... its only rendering a sky box!!! Dropping settings to ULTRA net me about 5-10FPS!! dropping to HIGH nets me another 10fps and dropping to MEDIUM is where the game stays well above 60fps the whole time! This is using 99% GPU usage nearly all the time too it only ever drops to 97% a few times so its not CPU limited its MASSIVELY GPU limited!!! The looks OK but not that great! Will test out DX11 and see if it performs better.
safe mode dx11 can play. ini edits can nuke motion blur and change fov.tho i do not find the fov bothering me much. benchmark? low fps is the norm it should preform much better in the game.
Odd, I know I have a 2080ti so not a perfect comparison but on ultra in that same spot 1440p my fps is over 100
tried the photo mode @ 4k with DLSS on , man are those pixels big on my monitor still waiting for the steam patch which's not coming out anytime soon i think
I restarted my PC, entered the game reset the graphics to DX12 Extreme 1440p, low motion blur no hairworks or physx and it performed WAY better, was at around 80-100fps. However during an in game cutscene the fps tanked again to around the 40-70fps mark. It stayed there, now I am at the first open area (snow area) and have dropped down to Ultra settings and the game hovers around the 50+fps mark sometimes dropping to the mid to high 40's. I have no idea what is up with this game, I am using the latest drivers too. Don't get me wrong the game looks great and the gameplay is awesome the gun play feels amazing but the game DOES NOT look that great to warrant such a high demand. I think Ultra and Extreme must add some form of SSAA to the image. I think Something like this: Low = 0.5x SSAA (half of set resolution) Medium = 1x SSAA (renders at set resolution so 1440p will be native 1440p) High = 1.25x SSAA (renders at +25% more of set resolution) Ultra = 1.5x SSAA (renders at +50% more of set resolution) Extreme = 2.0x SSAA (renders at 100% more of set resolution) Other things do change with the settings such a lower shadows and lighting but really there IS NOT much difference between HIGH, ULTRA, and EXTREME its at MEDIUM you notice a larger drop and even then MEDIUM and HIGH dont look that much different, mainly in the lighting and texture resolution is slightly lower. This SSAA thing is the only thing I can think of that is making the game unplayable for me at Extreme, the other Metro games had an SSAA setting whereas this has a Shader Rendering setting but I think that is something slightly different. To be honest the graphics menu is total trash. They need to take a note out of Ubisofts book the settings menus are excellent, each setting tells you exactly what they do and some even show you with pictures and some even tell you which piece of hardware it will effect the most.
If you get good perf first and it degrades overtime sounds like a memory leak or similar bug. Probably gets better with patches later on or newer drivers. Also could be isolated to Ryzen systems, who knows...
If you read the reviews EXTREME turns on supersampling and is a future-proof option. I can't even run it on my 2080 Ti... calm down and put it to Ultra.
I just had a hard freeze on my pc contr alt delete did nothing what the actual frack lol, never had hardlocks ever this game got some serious stability issues.
Have not experienced any of these freezing or locking issues yet. But one thing I always do is run the VC Bin Removal tool that was in Thatguy91's shared one drive folder. The actual dlls are not removed but use the replace option so that they are replaced with the newer versions. So may want to give that a try.
