Just built up a new HTPC and now i am going to build up a tower to replace the old laptop we're using. I like the Phenom II that i have now so will get another quad core or the 6 core but i want to maybe try out the new fermi cards that Nvidia are releasing. What is a good motehrboard to use? Almost all the ones i see that support the AMD proccessor are ATI graphics only (crossfire). I guess this is cause ATI and AMD are sister companies?
Asus M4N72-E AMD M\B is 2 way SLI It will support the latest AMD CPU's and what i think is important it is 2 way SLI, I have found that when you go 3way SLI the Cooling solutions are so wide that the center GPU card is not getting proper cooling Via air. It is only going to give 2X8 bandwidth using SLI use one GPU of course you get 16x. Its pretty Robust Overclocker as usual from Asus.
... Oh. So i guess that means none coming in the near future either? Just to confirm... My 3.4GHz quad core Phenom II is AM3 right? I guess ATI cards it is.... Thanks
There are hacks around to enable SLI on AMD chipsets, but since there is no guarantee it will work, I don't know if it's the right thing for you. If you can't live without dual nVidia GPU, I suggest you get an Intel Build. Apart from that, single nVidia cards run just fine on any board, regardless the chipset.

AMD and ATi are the same company, AMD bought out ATi in 2006. As for the lack of NVIDIA boards, blame NVIDIA, they stopped all chipset development while being in a huge legal battle with Intel. deltatux
and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130236 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131636 and the two boards already posted: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131637 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131637 The only reason SLI boards are currently hard to find is because Nvidia has currently stopped production of motherboards chips because of the lawsuit with Intel.
... Cool, so there are a few. Any rumours on when Nvidia will be making new chipsets for M/B's again?
