    I wonder how many Z490 owners get to activate PCIe 4.0 successfully. Shouldn't it be theoretically possible with some mobos?

    It is, but mostly on higher end mobos.
    There is a list somewhere on the net how fully PCIE 4.0 is supported on specified mobos

    there's a dedicated 4.0 m.2 port on mine,not active on cmls

    On other hand, Intel 1200 is not supported by my X570 and my B450... lol

    Best upgrade for those users is amd.

    Also alder lake with atom cores cant compete on big core count with amd. And still a year before release. Intel on desktop is done.
