Unlike Steam that only sends out random surveys which are opt-in (which means you have to say specially select you want to share info), Origin with EA has decided that if you want to use Origin, you HAVE to agree to the terms to allow them to monitor your computer and then sell that data to third parties. Here is the section.

Don't want it? Bold explains what you must do (uninstall Origin and not get to play BF3 and other EA titles)

lol such an easy choice for me, looks like they dont want my money :)
Hopefully they will fall foul of a law or 2 and will be forced to repackage every single game.

They just changed it to be more vague and doesn't explain what they are doing, it also removes the line that the only way to opt out is to no install the software...which is still the same because that is the only way not to accept the terms. They basically just tried to sweep it under the rug without saying they will no longer do that.

And they think this will stop people angry with their DRM-fetish to stop boycotting them? Right. Smart move.

    OH NOES

EA are looking at my PC info and IP, erm so wat.

Blizzard knows this and so does Steam, one more doesn't really bother me.

Blizzard logs your IP constantly, its a safety feature. People trying to hack accounts would have to be in the same IP range to be able to log in.

Yeah, but they don't rifle through application usage locally on your pc, including the installed/deinstalled log, etc.

If they try to access it, they will get a big deception, first, my router firewall cut this type of data transfering ( in and out ) and just drop them automatically, second even the windows will tilt as a software try access some files on the computer .

I can imagine the only thing they can do is as Steam check DirectX and report software installed in the list ... nothing more.

They are not alone, even MMO security client and Punkbuster etc, check for some data transfer, or software who can be used for cheat or bot )

I like the first comment on RPS .... " This is in the Eula since 7years now, why cry now ? ( something to do as EA remove their games from Steam ? )

Valve also scans your hard drive for applications/OS and etc. As long as the application just does that, then don't buy their games.

When installing a few EA games I've also read those lines in the EULA as well, but seriously is it really a big deal that they know what apps you have installed?

This just like senseless bashing on Origin just because you don't like it >.>".

Microsoft is also known to have their OS phone home and they don't state it in the EULA, who knows if they also send other information like Origin back to its creator.

They also halved most game prices. BF:BC2 14,90 €, DA2 19,90 € and same goes to many other games too (Crysis 2, Bulletstorm...).

it wont bother me one bit. but i see where some people have a valid concern. i also see where others want to make a mountian out of a mole hill, if you catch my drift.

im pretty sure 98% of people will not have an issue with this. as for the other 2%, wait a few days after the release and go visit TPB. you wont have to worry about orgin snooping around then :p

Uhm ... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer is fairly easy to read from almost any software. Any other tripwire you want to invent?

Thankfully The Old Republic won't require you to have Origin installed. Can avoid this insanity.

As I stated above that is completely NOT true about Valve, I've responded to this numerous times on these forums, why people continue to perptuate this is beyond me. I know when I heard those alligations I was in shock, then I went and did some investigation and found out it was all FUD.

Valve only has random - OPT IN - surveys regarding your applications and other things on your computer. The only way Valve will ever get your computer information (such as applications/OS/Driver/Video card) is when they randomly select you for a survey you say "opt-in" as in, choose to give them the information.
