    First of all:

    "Its a BMW driver".

Secondly, here in UK, it would cost you a billion to get insured on a car like this. I pay £1600 a year for a 97' renault clio 1.2 (im also 19).

Right, because insurance rates stop someone with a new M3.

Well, it doesnt stop anybody, but it should prevent young/inexperienced drivers from owning high-powered cars (unless they are prepared to pay the same amount as the car for insurance each year)

why is it that young drivers see a car and driving as something uber cool, and driving like a nut being even cooler. I see a car as something that brings me from A to B, couldnt give a crap what it looks like as long as it works and the doors arent hanging off it

Well, i understand what you mean, and i think the same way, though some of my fellow "young people" dont share the same views. And thats why my insurance is 8x times the price of my car :D though next year its going to drop about double. no claims bonus FTW :)

    To paraphase Mr Clarkson

First time fast car buyers should be taken to a track and put in something quick and RWD (think stock 911) and with an instructor. Take it up to about 150Mph and then put it into a slide. If you can get the car back inline first time, great. You can then buy a fast car. If you can't and you spin out at that kind of speed, the experince will scare the crap out of you, and give you an idea what its like to really loose it in a powerful car.

liking the idea of tesla coils to balls, but if people are found guilty of dangerous driving i think they should get stupidly fined. its idiots like this that cause us normal young drivers huge insurance premiums.
