Hey everyone, I recently updated my drivers to enjoy better perfs on GTA5. From 14.4 to 15.x (15.5, 15.6, I tried both). Here is what happened: 1) My old DVI to HDMI cable suddenly wasn't able to transfer the signal anymore. I had to use a newer cable to get the signal back. Yeah, strange. It's working again if I go back to 14.4, so it's really related to the driver update. This is more for your information, the real problem is the second one -> 2) Most importantly: I now have black screens / freezing (driver crash, need for a hard reboot) within a couple of minutes, but only if I'm on the desktop, doing 2D tasks. There is no problem if I quickly start a game at boot up, and play for hours!! My computer is totally unusable right now. So please guys, help me! :bawl: Windows 8.1, 64bits Asus 290X DC2 OC Intel Core i7 4790K Asrock Z97 Extreme6 Kingston HyperX Fury Black (16Gb) Corsair Professional Series AX860 (860W)
If you don't have problem in 3D and it only appears in 2D maybe ULPS is the culprit, try disabling it.
I've disabled ULPS, and until now... no black screen. But I've only tested the system for a few minutes. I'll give some news here after some more testing! Thanks sammarbella!
