    Good review. AMD makes some pretty cool running chips.

    What I want to know is what happened to the rumor that there would be 970BE's that were binned Thuban chips.

    they look very good and prices are killers , one thing is the size of "Process Technology: 45-nanometer" , the hd5k are 40nm and one year old , i read that intel is already making tons of 22 nm cpu -> that is half the size of these new cpu .
    that is where amd should work&invest now , that looks terrifically urgent ;']

    i called my fren to cancel my order for 965 as soon as i read this review using my phone in class. What a spontaneous act. I'll wait for this to become available here.

    Good to see some new CPU's on the market. Gaming at 24" monitor with Athlon is clearly enough.

    Looks good. I would pick that one if I was building a PC atm.

    AMD needs to add more Quad cpus, they discontinued a few already. Only 3 for selection now, Mainly two for some stores... Well here in Australia. All you see is a heap of Intel cpus and like a small variety of AMD...

    AMD has tons of quad cores. Newegg lists 13.

    My new build for Christmas is going to be with the new AMD 4x CPU from my Intel Q6600. Performance/Price ratio just can't be beat.

    That looks like a good competition, finally.

    a i5 760 is cheaper then a 970be here (the i5 generally performs better afaik)
    would be a tough choice (imho) :s
    their both fantastic bang for the buck

    i5 would perform better overclocked. Stock, they would perform roughly the same with an edge to the 970.

    Wish I could get these were I live :( oh well, at least something is better than nothing I guess.

    BTW, I noticed this again; Page 12, last paragraph
    Shouldn't it be SMP instead of CMP, unless I am missing an important news article :3eyes:

    I think 6 cores are ahead of their time. Not many things they can do that a quad cant. At least AMDs offerings are on the sane level for consumers vs Intels 980x.

    SMP = Multiple CPUs

    CMP = Multi-core CPU

    Those rumors were false.

    Although a legitimate new SKU, they're still 100% Deneb. The 970 BE will likely be the king of the hill for Deneb. Much like the 6400+ was for K8. With BD around the corner, these chips though solid performers are helping to bide time.

    Everyone hoped they would release a 740 BE or similar. I personally think with the change to C3 revisions it wasn't very beneficial to AMD to rebadge broken X4's as X3 Black Editions because it created too much competition for their X4 BE's.

    I knew there was a damn good reason why i just bought an Phenom II x4 940BE

    that and the fact I really didn't want to undergo the cost of going Intel ie:

    new mobo
    new cpu
    new ram

    equals a ****load of pennies I just don't have just aswell the PII x4 940BE only cost me 80 bucks:banana:
