Lol, its not twice as powerful as a 290X.

Its roughly the same performance as a 290X but uses about half the power.

In other words, its twice as powerful 'per watt' which is easy to misinterpret until that second cup of coffee :)

So let me get this straight. Fury X is not twice as powerful as the 290x, Nano will be a cut down Fury X and it will be twice as powerful as the 290x while consuming half the power.

When is this false marketing from AMD going to stop?
I'm willing to be that near release they're gonna do something like 'yeaaah it's actually not twice as powerful' just like they did with the Fury X. Zomg Titan killer and at E3 'yeaaaaah it's around 980Ti levels, not Titan". "Yeaaah it doesn't have 640 GB/s bandwidth anymore". "Yeaaaah the boxes say it's 480GB/s. "Yeaaah in reality it's even lower than that".

Call me a hater if you want, but stuff like this is why I avoid AMD. "Fastest card on the market" has been overused so much I automatically skip reading it when I read a press conference from AMD.

And now those Nano statements piss me off.

AMD realy did a great job with the power efficiency of the fiji gpu it's on par with maxwell now.
I hope that it will launch with proper drivers to
see the fury true power especialy with win 10 :)

That thing you are raging about is not AMD's official text, it is posted by Hilbert (if he actually wrote that).
If you look at slides, they say something different. 2x performance per size of card and 2x performance per watt. And that is correct.

Text at top is apparently wrong as it basically means 4x performance per watt.

Then I apologize. I wouldn't be surprised by AMD pulling something like that.

And I doubt Hilbert wrote that. He knows it's not true.

This is the Card I am waiting to see! These new cards are overkill for my 1080p screen but the 390/390X cards still have high TDP. Lets hope it delivers somewhat (no pun).

This is the type of thing they should put in the consoles.... like... seriously..

Nice, looking forward to see what Nano can do. AMD is filling every spot, so many cards to choose now. :)

I agree, because AMD got console deals thanks to design which delivered all that within required limits.

Maybe Zen APUs can deliver double performance per watt than PS4 chip. but still, it is better to stay at PS4 chips for sake of one market. Splitting it again by another console would break very reason why consoles are made.
    Relatively cheap & unified.

I really think that the slide has been misinterpreted. The doubling of "performance density" is performance for a given size. So if it is double the performance density and half the size then it is the same performance in a smaller package with no performance increase.

At the conference the CEO definitely made it sound like it's 290x performance at half the wattage. Which again makes it essentially a GTX970. If they can price it way cheaper & in that form factor, it will be a nice card though.

It'll be nowhere near the performance of the 290X.

Yeah I actually think there's more interest in this than the Fury and Fury X..

They actually said 1.5x performance-per-watt vs 290/390x while keeping same level of performance. Idk why you are so surprised.

Let's hope the pricing is right.
