Everything went well in court.(prosecutor dropped the charges). I had a mental episode and made a phone call last year to my old job in case anyone was wondering. I rather not go into further details on a public forum.

Anything I should know about 5800x3d and x570 mobo's? Also what's the process of upgrading a CPU on AM4? Do I need to reset the bios? Should I pop the CMOS battery out while I'm installing the new CPU and AIO?

I chose this AIO btw: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09W2GLV3D?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

    *EDIT*

I was going to auction off my old CPU on ebay but my dad bought from me.

I have not bought any CPU or MB in 8 years so I can't help, but glad you got your things sorted out dude. Enjoy the new hardware, whichever you will get!

If you are already on the am4 go for it, it should be very nice upgrade over 3700x. Make sure you are on the latest bios, upgrade is simple.

As long as you update the BIOS per your MB's instructions. Just download the latest version on a USB and unzip it. The method varies depending on the board and manufacturer.

I went from a 3700X to 5800X3D and damn its not just night and day its a beast

running mine on asus rog strix x570-f with 16gigs 3600 cl16-16

Games like assassins creed origins would drop gpu perf under a 3700x

all games now always 100%, you will defo not regret it

Hey man, congrats on the decision (going from 3900x), I finally made the jump myself just today!

What I did was: update x570 chipset drivers (Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master), update bios, load optimized defaults, install the new cpu, load optimized defaults again, if all goes well and OS boots, come back to bios, XMP - enable (check voltage 1.35, mine for some reason had 1.20 on auto...), Above 4G Decoding - enable, Re-size BAR Support - enable.

After this do some tests in something like cinebench, save results, come back to bios and play around with PBO - I set mine to -25 and the performance boost was noticeable vs stock. But I'm sure there are gurus way more savvy than that and cand advice you (and me for that matter)!

Thank you for the info. :D

There were stutters and/or frametime spikes and graphical bugs in Rage 2 at close to 4k res until I enabled PBO and maxed it out. So I guess there is a little CPU boundness going on with my 3700x+RX 6700(non-XT).

Bios is already updated. I was kinda waiting for more bios updates so hopefully when I actually do upgrade to a 5800x3d everything is more guaranteed to be stable with XMP enabled. The hell with it though. I'm getting it sooner, almost now.

    I can't wait to test out the 5800x3d in BF2042. :D

Jumped from a 5900 to a 5800x3D. Installed under an Artic Liquid II 360. Core curve on -10, unstable beyond (funny things happening here and there on windows) that but its enough to make it to the 4450MHz in games.

I am quite lucky where it happily sits at -30 all core and chip hits max voltage of 1.150

in games it runs at 4450 but the odd time a core or 2 might hit 4.5
with this 583d even the effective clocks stay at 4450 where with the 3700x they would not be anywhere close and no matter what I did the chip never once boosted to 4.4

Lucky you! I tried starting at -30 but i had many bsod and worked my way until -15, at that point i was getting weird chrome shutdown and funny things on windows. Everything good at -10, so im a happy camper.

I might post my Ebay listing here early if I'm confident enough I won't need to return/replace the 5800x3d.

    -offset? You mean undervolting?

Why would I want to go through the trouble of doing something that's absolutely never guaranteed stable when I can just get an inexpensive $60 280mm AIO with good reviews off of Amazon? The AIO is sitting behind me btw.

I just got my GPU back in October and it's exactly what I want... Faster timing RAM or do you mean RAM with a higher frequency? The max on my 3700x and the 5800x3d is 3200MHz. Running RAM anywhere above that isn't going to improve much and I'm using 3600MHz RAM.

I meant -30 PBO offset to lower the max voltage. It will keep the CPU from overheating and allow
    boosting higher.

That is a good price for an AIO. I meant to not spend up to a ridiculous 200+ USD for RGB bling bling taxed no use AIO for the 5800X3D. It does almost nothing unless you are going to delid and try to squeeze extra 100-150 MHZ peak boost.

I mean LOWER RAM TIMING, RAM. Lower CL. It still can scale for the 1% and 0.1% lows if the game code exceeds the X3D cache of the CPU. I think 3800CL14 or faster RAM if worth if you if can lock the IF 1:1 at 3800 and keep lowering and improving the RAM timings in CPU and cache bound games.

    Test for stability tho.

For me your situation is my backup. I am going to get the 7800X3D @ MSRP if possible, unless it gets scalped to more than a 13900K. Then I will try to find a 5800X3D but its already being scalped back to nearly 500 USD.

My last resort is a 13600K or 12600K or even a 13400K with a bclcking MB.

A 5800x3d will boost to its max as long as it doesnt exceed its max temps, you cant squeeze any more than its locked limit irrespective of temps. setting -30 either in the bios or via PBO Tuner will give better temps all round, but not a higher clock speed.
