That's with a clock rate of up to 5.0GHz. Imagine what it could do at higher frequencies.

modern advertising and its BS "up to" goalposts
16 site review average shows 7950x3d 3.8% faster than 13900K, so I don't think 7800x3d will end up even near 10% in reality. Expect 5% imo.
Still, makes me want to buy an am5 platform with the direction amd are going. Fast and effcient, me like. Maybe sometime in the future, when am5 mobo and x3d cpu prices aren't through the roof and the cpus can take +7000 ddr5 when it becomes standard.
I like intel for stability and hassle-free operation/installation, but I'm kinda bored with it, been on intel since C2D days.

This CPU hangs up there with the 13900K, just like the 5800X3D did for less money. That is the value or am I mistaken?

Top tier gaming performance with lower power consumption than Intel for us Europeans :D

The 7800x3d is almost certainly going to be my next cpu.

Indeed, SIGNIFICANTLY less power consumption + doesn't need me to buy a new cooler, cause amd unlike intel doesn't feels like facking with socket layout every other generation...

I saw (dont remember where) someone disabling the 2nd ccx on 7950x3d and reducing clocks a bit on the primary ccx - made no difference to performance - performance was all down to cache. So going by that, increasing clocks to say 5.4 ghz wouldnt make much of a difference either.

    I agree.

I can see it being 5% faster, maybe even 10% on some case, no more than that.

I`m also thinking in going with AMD for my next system because i`m also bore of using Intel all the time, but my budget can is only big enough for the 7700x.

Ehm 4 grand? No, sure the stuff I have, audio equipment, pc, ... all amounts to a large budget, but it's been spread over several years. In some cases even a decade or longer (high end audio equipment still seems to be built to last).

Also, after tinkering with the BIOS & Windows power settings I've learned the impact can be a lot more than 100 quid a year, granted I had a lot of stuff disabled prior to enabling a lot of power saving features, but I was still amazed at the difference.

And last time I checked, I don't poop money when I go to the toilet. Sure I'm far from poor, but it doesn't hurt to be sensible with your money.

I was just reminded why i put that guy on ignore. Depending on what eu country you live in, it's alot more than 100 punds per year. My electric bill is 1500 dkk per month, roughly half of that is my pc. That's literally the price of a 4090 over a 2 year period. And yes, regardless it pays off to be mindful of your expenses :)

Have had 7800x3d+ performance since October with 13900k and 8400c34 ddr5. Nice with 20-40w lower powerdraw in games. "750w vs 720w" powerdraw from the wall is like whatever :p

In norway where the power is cheap, yes.

And the difference is alot more than 30w between that intel toaster and the amd 3d chips.

Last time I checked, Idle power was 20-30w more on 7 series vs Intel. Maybe a AGESA bug tho. :p
I used 7950x for 3 months, but my 13900k and 13900ks is faster in everything, so there was no reason to keep it. 7800x3d should be a small upgrade for the gaming pc #3. That gamer has 10900k with 4700cl17 ddr4. Fortnite/overwatch gamer for my kids LOL

A smart person doesn't have their pc turned on just standing in idle for prolonged periods of time.... and in actual usage, 13900k uses stupid amounts of power, where as amd doesn't.

Stupid? I'm just gaming on 13900k and ks. I would say the people that "playing" Cinebench 24/7 is pretty stupid, but I don't care what others do....

Playing BF 2042, and cpu is drawing like 120w, and gpu is drawing 450w (4090). Cpu is 48-53c while gaming. What is actual stupid?

Yes, cause a 13900k uses 75w in actual use... /facepalm

And evidently you haven't heard of undervolting gpu's.

As said, i am very much reminded why i put you on ignore in the first place, and back on it you go.

I sincerely doubt that it uses 120w, if you are trying to run the game as fast as possible... maybe with a 60 fps cap.

And 450w on gpu... that makes 2 people in this thread that evidently either haven't heard of undervolting, or doesn't know how to do it...

I tried with auto volt and 50mp on cache to see how much watt the game is drawing with way too much volt. Looks like it's possibel to draw high wattage on this cpu. :D

No too bad temperature. Wonder if 7 7800x3d is beating 13900k with FAST ddr5 in Battlefield 2042? Haven't seen any with higher fps in game...

FPS to beat: Good luck ;)

So nearly 200w in actual usage... and that's my point exactly.

The 7800x3d will have power usage similar to the 7700x (slightly below), so less than half of that.

It surely is not great vs. Zen 4D, but it's not much of an issue either.

    I can't wait to see the powerdraw of 7800x3d in 2042 pushing 360fps. :)
PS: There is no point comparing the powerdraw if the fps is like 220fps....

this will be more helpful than any indivudially picked result
those are computerbase.de individual results + averages

    https://imgur.com/a/czVFfwt

intel's 13 gen i9 series cpu comes close to 7950x, 13700K is same as 7900x. 13600k is acceptable, but still close to 100w. 12600k is what I'd call very power efficient, 7600x needs only 66w on average.
no x3d in the charts buy you know how 7800x3d would do if 7700x already does excellent.
