Will be interesting to see how much they customized UE to their needs. Hopefully not just ancient "upstream" UE4 RT, that likely would be poorly optimized.
I used to be a huge Harry Potter fan as a kid (both books and movies), though I certainly don't find the universe to be as good now as I thought of it back then. Anyway, somehow this slipped under my radar until a work colleague told me about it some weeks ago. Looks like it might be pretty decent, and if so, I'll give it a try for sure. It's weird, as I kind of thought that the Harry Potter hype was pretty much dead (especially after the last Fantastic Beasts movie) at this point, so it would indeed be pretty cool if this turns out to be good.
I'm getting the feeling this might end up like Callisto Protocol in terms of stuttering and framerates at launch. Hope I'm wrong, but I'm not really confident in Unreal Engine 4. Expect sub 60 fps with raytracing due to CPU bottlenecks.
If we learned anything from these pc releases lately Spiderman, Witcher, Callisto Protocol raytracing can be really heavy on the cpu. I hope dlss3 and fsr3 will be widely adopted this year it will help alot alleviate cpu botrlenecks.
It will run better because it supports frame generation(DLSS 3) but I don't expect a stutter-free experience since it's using UE 4..
DLSS 3 is good in CPU-limited scenarios yes, but devs should not get too comfortable with it as they will get more lazy with CPU optimizations.
I have zero interest in this game, but I might buy it just to show my support for Rowling against those fanatical anti-reality trans bigots.
If you want to show your support for Rowling then you shouldn't buy the game lol Because Most recently, it was reported that “Hogwarts Legacy,” a Harry Potter video game set to be released by Warner Bros. will separate body type and voice from two gender options when allowing character creation in an effort to make the game more transgender-inclusive Rowling is not involved in this project
No, we learned that spiderman is optimized for playstations much bigger bandwidth, and that witcher and callisto are both shitty made hackjobs... Metro exodus RT version, cyberpunk, tomb raider, etc etc etc etc, has no issues with cpu usage when using rt...
It's a bit weird how the "Alphabet mafia" are losing their minds over this game but whatever. I've seen previews of this and the game looks cool even for someone like me who doesn't know jack about HP, think I've seen the 1st 2 movies but thats it. Hopefully its well optimized with no major bugs.
Yeah the fact that "access media" got triggered so hard by this one, sure piqued the interest of many. If anything, it has done the game a big favor, lol.
We are at a strange time, when someone saying that a biological male, who identifies as a woman, doesn't have a womb, can't gestate and mestruate, is seen as hate speech. To think that so many people got "insulted" because Rowling spoke about basic biological facts.
EA found out a long time ago what can be controlled with money so no surprise here. That said, the game itself does look kinda fun.
School that teaches magic... then fantastical stories that revolve around that kind of fantasy world, it's kind of a simple premise really.
