OMGS I got it working this morning I connected the third 12VHPWR loose contact to a PCI-E pigtail!! Is this recommended? Will it explode Do I cancel my order for a Corsair PSU and dedicated Corsiar 12VHPWR double contact?
haha, I had assumed you would do this in the first place yeah, that is how I run mine, obviously you need all 3 connectors powered up. Nice!
I'm sure there are many opinions, but I went with the "Two 8 Pin at 300W and 75W from the slot is enough for my 320W GPU" option.
As long as you have sufficient power for spikes, there should be no risks. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/geforce-rtx-40-series-ultra-efficient-beyond-fast/ 350w to spare i would say is the minimum for a 4080. Use this to calculate the rest of your system; https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator
Nice one thanks,,, According to the PSU calculator. I'm within spec. Now it's just the cosmetics. looks. I have a semi open Thermaltake Core P3 TG Pro, with extension cables hanging around and water cooling here and there. I ordered a 12VHPWR to 2 PCIE connector for my EVGA PSU from modDIY, twill come in about 4 to 6 weeks!! Just in time for the 5080 launch
babeltech tested 42 games in 2 resolutions (84 runs) 4080 won 56 out of 84 runs gainst 7900xtx. https://babeltechreviews.com/hellhound-rx-7900-xtx-vs-rtx-4080-50-games-vr/4/ in VR it won 10 out of 10 https://babeltechreviews.com/hellhound-rx-7900-xtx-vs-rtx-4080-50-games-vr/5/
Has been running for a while with no problems and whisper quiet. I am very satisfied at first I was afraid to leave the PC on when I go away or when I am cooking but now i'm confident. My advice mount the plug if your GPU isn't in the case yet.
Guys, just a question please, I tried googling if there are any melted cables affecting the 4080 but couldnt find any. Checking with you all if, because of the lower power draw, the melting adaptors are only affecting 4090s? Also, I got a corsair HX1200 and bought this cable. its a direct to PSU (to 2 PCIE power) whereas I saw my strix adapter is 3 PCIE power? Any issues you guys think if I use this? its just neater overall versus the one that came with the GPU
I have an EVGA Supernova 850W SF PSU powering my MSI 4080. The MSI Adapter is also 3 cables. I discovered the card only shows a picture on windows boot if all 3 cables are connected to the PSU. My PSU has only 2 PCIE contacts! So I used the second connector from ONE the PSU cable and connected the third cable from the MSI adapter to that.. Hard to explain but it works. So long as all of the cables on the adapter (strix or MSI ) are connected the graphic card will get a proper signal and give a picture. Check my earlier post for a picture explanation. My build is a mess at the moment but I ordered a 12HPWR connector with only two cables for an EVGA PSU from moddDIY , and a Bykski waterblock for the card and other small water cooling parts. So clean build by mid-February. Will eventually invest in an ATX 3.0 PSU when there are more of them on the market
HI! Apparently, the corsair cable is really supposed to be 2 cables (saw different videos about it) so im gonna just stick to it for now. got the HX1200 new as well cos i really trust only Corsair and Seasonic
Any ratings or recommendations ´bout modDIY products? Important question considering some after market 12WHPR connectors are failing https://www.moddiy.com/products/12VHPWR-600W-PCIe-5.0-Dual-8-Pin-to-16-Pin-Power-Cable-for-EVGA.html
I have been using 2 of these ( https://www.moddiy.com/products/ATX...le-8-Pin-to-12VHPWR-16-Pin-Adapter-Cable.html ) from moddiy for at least 2 months with no issues. Cards used are the Zotac RTX 4080 Trinity, and Msi RTX 4080 Ventus 3X, both non-OC versions.
So you got a "standard one" for all types of PSUs? I thought you had to get the specific one for your make. I got one for the EVGA. But it came today and I am regretting it as I just ordered an MSI ATX3.0 PSU coming next week. But I cannot seem to find information about returns on the moddiy website
