Agree. And the pre-baked GI system is also very good. So image quality would not gain that much from RT. This is not Dying Light 2, that has a illumination system from 2010, so turning RT on makes a lot of difference.
Hey... I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you. LOL Who wants advanced ray tracing. bleeh yuck.. it's fine. Yeah... sure it is. stfu
RT is overrated. I was playing Alien Isolation the other day, and it shows you can do great lighting, shadows and reflections without RT.
If they actually developed this game with rt in mind and released it from the start game would look even better. This approach fake lightning first then raytraced later is not good.
It is good, because not everyone wants to take the FPS hit of RT. The game shouldn't look worse than it could just because RT is off.
I added (along other postshaders) raytraced ssr-reflections with reshade and the result is stunning with this game. (Important to use the right angle in the ssr settings). In fact many corridor,/indoor games can benefit from this. (Doom2016) All my 300+ games are reshaded, often with rtgi also for finer glpbal illumination, ao, instead the blob, oil like puddles, which go for ingame ao
Just found out HDR gaming, and even with a low end monitor, some areas look stunning. Honestly it´s the first time in many years that graphics blow me away.
some games do not require any reshade whatsoever, for example, crysis 2, and bright memory infinite, they look amazing as they are because of the art style, many games suffer from this
/\ Yeah and some are allmost inpossible to enhance, I then only add some tonemapping to filter bad looking fog out of the scene, add some dof and thats it. Results def. varies.
And they legit still advertise the game like it launched with raytracing of any kind. And again for those that doubt.
I agree, this game's HDR implementation is among the best I have seen, truly makes a big difference in terms of visual presentation.
old hardware is holding rt back. good rtgi+rtao vs good rasterized gi+ao, rtgi always looks better. it'll be years before games are designed to be rtgi only. now it's an afterthought. I still want it to happen, so I prefer new rt capable hardware over old ones.
New hardware prices are holding back everything. Most people can't upgrade because of GPU companies almost doubling prices in a few generations.
imo that is the reason people are salty over rt. it's not that it isn't good looking, it's the fact that rt costs too much.
I just paid 560€ for a 2 year old GPU, that can best be described as mid range, by today's standard. And people congratulated me on getting a good deal. The GPU market is insane right now. The RTX4000 and RX7000 are the worst generations of GPUs I have ever seen. Not because of features or performance, but because of prices. Not even the FX line was as f***ed up as this.
not just because of prices in case of rx7000 really. ipc and perf/wat increase look pretty miserable.
That's because NVidia and AMD are pushing clocks too high. And since power usage scales in a geometric line with clocks, the results are evident. Gamers made fun of the 5800 Ultra, the 2900XT and 480 for being to hot and hungry for the time. But there doesn't seem to be enough pushback on these new generations.
