Awesome but proud to NOT to have another launcher on my PC. Steam and GOG is enough for world domination here.

you do realize you can add your entire Epic library and fully integrate it to GoG launcher, don't you?

Last time I tried this was technically true, but I needed the EGS launcher installed and the game downloaded via EGS launcher to even be able to launch it from GOG (much like Steam allows you to add games outside of Steam too for no reason but to have them in your list).
Did that change with Galaxy yet?

I used to feel like that, but dont care anymore.

If a game I want is on a launcher I dont have I just get it and game on.

Not gonna hamstring my gaming because of a launcher/corporation etc.

I make my stands where I feel it matters, and gaming aint one of them :)

Epic must be panicing now that Ubisoft is returning to Steam. No amount of free games will have me support Epic's anti-consumer BS.

    True.

in the end they failed because they offer no advantage over Steam to any customer, apart from the freebies, of course.

Don't see the problem with the Epic launcher. Nobody is using Windows XP anymore and we all have lot of ram and storage space, so what's the harm in having two or three game launchers installed? You install them and you forget they exists until it's time to download and play what you want.
I have lot of games in the Epic's library and tried some of them.
There are lot of kids who don't have the money to buy games, that with Epic get triple A games for free: I bet they are very happy with this and don't give a damn about the Steam vs Epic competition.
It's free stuff and nobody is forcing you to take it. What to dislike?

This is an emotional topic people... even after years, we should have learned, that there's people who have very rational and true arguments for either side.
Sometimes all you do is grab a freebee, some people avoid EGS because they don't fancy Sweeney's business practices. Some people simply don't care.

But go on, Nicholas, @TheDeeGee and I will have some popcorn in the meantime.

What do you mean for anti-consumer bs?
Epic provides the game engine used by 2/3 of the games out there and it's free, except the royalties the game devs have to pay once they start earning more than 1 million.
Do you have an idea on how many millions it costs to develope a game engine of the same kind? Players should be thankfull that they exist.
Steam on the other hand is full of trash, there are tons of games that shouldn't even have granted access to the platform, considering their quality and the kind of content in them (there are porn and adult content games).

    [edit]
I have installed Steam when was released for the first time. At the time there were the same concerns that the people moved against the other game platforms that have been introduced later. Steam has just the advantage of being the first, so players are more used to it. That's the only difference. As for the content and the services: Valve got more money, so can offer more and better. But should be better to say "could offer", because in reality they "rest in their laurels" since a decade. We're still waiting the sequels of their most popular games and Source Engine 2.

Well, they don't FORCE you to buy anything. The local supermarked also want you to buy a lot of stuff

For me personally, I still have games I want to play that were released several years ago, some of which are already in my Steam account. I have more games to play than time to play them. Being a Linux gamer, not only has Epic/EGS made my gaming experience more difficult, but Valve has made noteworthy improvements. I don't hate on EGS but I have no compelling reason to use it, even with the freebies.

I agree with your sentiment that it's not a big deal to have a few game launchers and run them when you need them, but I absolutely despise the foundation of your reasoning. There is no incentive to ever improve when you just buy in excess. When something can be made better but you deliberately ignore it because you can compensate for having "more" (whatever that may be), that's a real problem because you're basically just shifting the requirements. When everyone starts to do that, what was once excessive is now not enough. In the 1960s, we built a computer that could land on the moon using specs worse than some Arduinos, yet that Windows XP system you alluded to would struggle to just simply run EGS, let alone play anything. And I'm not talking about the processing requirements for 4K and assets to go with it because that's evolutionary, I'm just talking about the software itself. You shouldn't need 1.5GB of binaries+assets and a CPU+GPU capable of playing the most demanding games of 2005 to get a responsive, feature-rich, and visually appealing game store/library.

For what it's worth, I don't gripe about the demand of system specs when there is no realistic way to optimize it further. There is plenty of software out there that requires a real beefy modern PC that is very well optimized.
This I agree with. If I were back in my teen (and Windows XP) years, I would probably find myself using only EGS. I'd get enough free games to keep myself pretty well occupied.

What if your hope is a mirage? :D

Of course they don`t force anyone to buy but they are offering games in the hope that people will start buying the other games in the store.

People getting their free games and not buying the other games is not their objective.
