I meant 14900K, but if I grow impatient I may get a 13900k or even maybe a cheap 12900k with DDR4 motherboard combo . Anyway, I ordered a 1000W ATX 3.0 PSU, it's an MSI MPG A1000G.
I think thats a wasted of money keep your current 10900k for now i am also still on the z490 with 10700k platform its still going strong kinda. I think the bottlenecks are going to be very minimum with an rtx 4090 on 1440p with 144 hz [fps] or 4k etc etc. maybe 15 to 20% increase in performance but not like 50% or more. 14900k might be better when it eventually comes.
Played around a bit with 3dmark port royal - while cyberpunk did 3 ghz np, the most port royal would do was 2950 mhz https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/80904886? Edit : lol, just saw my score is nr 77 in the world... not for long though.
Yeah, I'm currently running 1440p at 144hz, but plan to go 4K eventually, I just haven't found a monitor that I like. Some of the review's I've seen showed a 5800X3D (better than a 10900k) bottleneck quite a bit at 1440p which is why I thought of maybe upgrading the CPU.
At 1440p i deffo think you would appriciate a faster cpu... but 13900k barely gives anything for gaming over 12900k... but 14900k is reported to be a 20% improvement over the 13900k in ipc, so i'd wait for that. And that 10900k is no slouch.
Run it at a level that is halfway between a full power 4090 and a 3090Ti, then at some point just put it up to 100% and it will feel like you have upgraded your GPU again but for free ha ha ha
Tested Metro exodus enhanced aswell now, and you are right - it's the only one so far pulling above 400w Native 4k Spoiler Native 8k Spoiler Nearly 500w at native 8k. But all other games / apps have been below 400w Also found that it very much likes the vram clocked as high as possible - mine does 1200 mhz oc stable.
Might be me but the new dlss3 makes everything even more blurry ? Still beats me that on 1440p with no dlss and both rt settings on pyscho in cyberpunk [the old dlss] still get dips below 60 fps sometimes with an rtx 4090. I am a native guy myself not a fan of dlss unless u have a low fps.
An interesting observation i made is that overclocking barely increases power draw. And second, you can actually decrease the power draw ALOT with a modest performance penalty. Cyberpunk maxed out 4k 50% power limit Spoiler stock Spoiler 120% power limit, +150 core, +1200 mem Spoiler I might just run with 50% power limit this winter in non-demanding games.
Nah, you're not getting any closer than that to stock clocks with 50% power limit. I was surprised it didn't clock more down.
I am curious, how are your guys cards with coil whine ? Mine is sadly alot more noticable than my 3090 was.
Good evening all, several people with high-res VR headsets like Varjo Aero and Reverb G2 are complaining about severe stutters during head or scene motion, and there's indication that this may be due to faulty DSC. Does anyone with the 4090 experience such issues, either in VR or with 4K/8K displays and high refresh rates (>=90Hz), particulary with DLSS disabled? Cheers, r.
