Our friend @Chastity suggest to create thread to post our configs and describe which programs or behaviour are causing crash/timeout.

    My config:
Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 3 with F8e bios ("beta" bios from September 2018, with TPM 2.0 support)
    Xeon E3-1285L v4
    DDR3 24GB 2400MHz
    6900XT
Windows 11 21H2 with secure boot and TPM 2.0 enabled.

Discord in background, Opera GX PIP and Vega Pro 19 can crash/timeout drivers. It's noticeable on 22.5.1, but notorious on 22.5.2 - 22.10.1.
Worth to mention. Vegas Pro 19 can't use AMD VCE since 22.5.2 properly.
From 22.5.2 to 22.8.1 it was ignored at all in Vegas Pro 19. Since 22.8.2 it showed, but performance/stability is a joke.

22.5.1 can render my project with solid average 100fps,
22.8.2 have fluctuated 80 fps average.

    Gskill DDR4 32Gb 4x SS 4000mhz @ 3600Mhz
    Sapphire 6900XT
    Win 11 22H2 Secure Boot TPM 2.0

Discord and Chrome hardware acceleration can cause a black screen in a 1-3min. Mouse over imbed youtube videos would cause the mouse to stutter and be like 30hz when you over the video when it's playing causing the black screen even faster

12600K, MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4, 3600mhz 32gb Corsair, Asus 6800XT. Pretty much the same issues

  5. Is there a way to consistently cause issues with Discord? I'm on a 6600 XT now on Windows 10 and so far just clicking through servers on Discord with HW-accel on with 22.10.1 shows no issues.

    • ASUS PRIME-X470 PRO (6042)
    • Ryzen 7 2700X (PBO on)
    • 32GB DDR4 (4x8GB @ 3200MHz)
    • XFX RX 6600 XT (2700MHz core, 2200MHz mem, OC'd)
    • TCL 55S405 (4K@60Hz, SDR, single-monitor, HDMI)
    • Windows 10 LTSC (10.0.19044)

Haven't found a way to consistently replicate it, but it happens more frequently as long as something with hardware acceleration is running.
    • MSI X570-A PRO
    • Ryzen 5 3600 (all stock)
    • 16 GB DDR4 (2x8 GB @ 3200Mhz)
    • ASRock RX 5700 XT Challenger 8 GB (all stock)
    • Windows 11 22H2 (also happens on Windows 10)
    • Dual monitor setup (both Freesync monitors, 144hz + 75hz)

Symptoms are random black screens only in my main monitor, which is an 144hz DisplayPort Freesync ASUS monitor. My secondary 75hz LG monitor, also FreeSync, doesn't go off during this. I have had full system shutdowns during gaming at random too, while the GPU isn't overheating at all. Discord is running during all of those situations. 22.5.1 solves the shutdowns completely, and blackscreen chance is reduced a ton, only had one in my time with 22.5.1 - only caveat is that video acceleration on e.g. Twitter causes mouse lag.

Anything after that driver has all kinds of those random issues and much more frequent black screens - although it fixes mouse lag for me.

How about AMD fixes it instead of users having to mess around with their settings? There's clearly some issue and I'm 99% sure it's monitor (multimonitor or connection) related, I think users should specify their monitor setups too.

If you think it's multi monitor related have you tried leaving only one monitor connected? To confirm if that is the cause...
If that's the cause it will also be easier to report the bug to AMD. Helping them to reproduce the issue.

  8. Does Discord have to be in-focus and being interacted with to cause issues? Or can the issues happen with it up but not focused, minimized to the Taskbar, or if it's hidden to the tray icon?

How about you can't fix PCIE issues with drivers. - actually, correction, you can - by having the driver restrict the PCIE mode used.

Very similar to my 12600KF, MSI PRO Z-690-A (DDR5), 32GB Kingston 5200MHz, XFX 5700 DD (driver 22.8.1), don't have Chrome but I use Chromium Edge, and I have no problems with HW on watching Youtube videos of any sort.

This is interesting, do you have a source for this? I wouldn't mind a read if you do.

My board supports all the way up to 5x, and my card 4x. Interested to know why 3x is required.

MSI X470 gaming plus max with an older agesa installed currently even though the later ones also cause the issues
    Ryzen 5 5600x
16gb 3200mhz ram overclocked to 3400mhz and tweaked subs (is not the issue and is stable on my GTX 1070)
tried both w11 and w10 but both caused the same issues
    144hz 1080p monitor with freesync
    RX 6700 xt

Even if my browser(Opera GX) and discord are minimized, they still cause the issues.

I need to be connected to voice Channel. Discord running minimize in background. I guess using Opera GX PIP (for example, youtube material in 4k) is Beat way to reprosuce this issue. Usually it looks like i artifact on video or Preview on Vegas Pro, i have some seconds to Save project before crash. Vegas Pro shutting down completly, Opera GX reloading every pages, Discord freezing for sure. I need to kill process and re-run.

Im using Dual Monitor too, 144Hz and 60Hz, but never had black screen issue. Only crashing/timeout gpu drivers during Discord + Opera PIP and Vegas.

    Windows 10 21H2 (Build 19044.1706)
HDMI out to Receiver, single TV output (1080p60)

Any driver including and newer than 22.7.1 causes issues. Running 22.6.1, everything works 100%.

    Issues:
    Many hardware acceleration issues.
1a) Chrome, initial video playback (netflix, youtube) is sometimes stuttery.
1b) Chrome, trying to fullscreen any video causes an unresponsive system for a few seconds and sometimes includes "flashing" of video frames before it plays back normally

2a) Discord is just a complete mess. If the window is visible, I can barely navigate it at all. No screen updates, blank areas.
2b) If a user shares an animated GIF, discord 100% causes a driver timeout. This includes attempting to scroll a chat and an animated GIF appears.

    3) Any OpenGL games I have just don't work well. Darkest Dungeon (replaying for halloween) is a complete mess, yuzu doesn't work well. These are the only OpenGL programs I've played recently.

EDIT: to answer questions below for less clutter,
Discord: Overlay is disabled on my end. I don't normally use any overlays while playing games.
Chrome: In youtube, I believe I do have "Always prefer AV1" set, but I experience the issue whether the video is using VP9 or AV1.

Discord Users: Do you have Discord Overlay enabled?

Chrome/Edge: Is Use AV1 Whenever Possible enabled?

Under Windows Settings.. Display... Default Graphic Settings, Use VRR enabled? (I've seen this apply VRR when watching videos with interesting results when the source is 23-24 fps.)

In my experience, Twitch seems to be more prone to a driver timeout than YouTube.
On twitch I had one video that almost consistently crashed at the same timecode/frame.

    Setup:
    6800XT
    Dual Monitor
    Main: 144hz, Freesync
    Second: 60hz
    Both 8bit panels.

Game on the main screen, like GoW.
Video on the second monitor, mpc-hc or video in web browser.
Open a chrome window on the main screen, start browsing, shortly after driver timeout happens.
Happens both on Win10 and Win11.
    But Win11 seems more effected.

There is also a image corruption happening when a video is playing on the second screen while hovering over the taskbar icons but it doesn't always happen.

Supporting the mode is one component, having an error free interface is another.

the hardware accelerated codecs are not error-correction abled features of a graphics card, if something goes wrong while A DMA transaction involving these units occurs it can dead lock the driver and result in a time out.

Don't forget your PSU make model and wattage.
    Monitor cable types etc
BIOS revisions and drivers for affected devices - why not a dxdiag export :D
