Yes that's something I noticed too, packages show vapor chambers for the 4090s. Now I want a waterblock with a vapor chamber as well, even if it probably doesn't help too much with a full loop.
Now I'm curious to see how the vapor chambers / air coolers compare to AIOs (without a vaper chamber) and to full loops (wich no vapor chamber).

Asus says the vapor chamber lowers core temps by about 5c for the models that have vapor chamber.

I'm leaning towards a 4090, I may even build a whole new system.

Prolly gonna hang on to my 3090ti a little while longer, currently only gaming at 720p and I'm pretty sure my 2500k is bottlenecking me pretty bad, specially since my CPU fan blew up and I have to disable two cores and underclock quite aggressively to keep temps in check.

At 720p, no you'll be fine. No bottle neck there that I could imagine :eek::eek::D

There was a demo some time ago where GPU temps were showcased. Was it FE? Around 55C is already quite low, especially if it's the FE (which previously ran hotter than 3rd party coolers).

With 3000 series the FE ran lower than 3rd party coolers on the core (by quite a bit actually). But you cant buy FE in scandinavia, because... f*ck nvidia...

Really? I just checked a swedish site (SweClockers) where they tested the Asus 3080 Noctua and 3080 FE ran at 76C according to their tests vs ASUS Quiet BIOS 67C and ASUS Performance BIOS 59C :)

Yeah, I’m leaning toward a new build with the 4090 too. Got my eye on the MSI Suprim Liquid X. Couple that with a i9-13900KF, Asus Z790-E and some ddr5, should last me awhile. Maybe my last build, 71yrs. Already got the Corsair AX1600i psu.

I will upgrade my entire system to 13900k / 4090. (currently 9900k / 2080ti)The gain from 3090ti to 4090 seems to be quite substantial (as is the price, unfortunately). Since EVGA is no longer in the GPU game, I will probably go with ASUS, as I had good experience with their products in the past. Not that the brand matters much, since the hsf will come off first thing to be replaced with a nice waterblock from EKWB. I plan to build an entirely new rig with custom cooling and push those cores to the max. :D

Props to you for keeping your PC building skills up into the golden years. It's a great hobby to keep the mind sharp.
Question on the PSU: how many PCI-E connectors will you need to fuel the 4090? Is the solution aesthetically pleasing at the GPU end? Or do you end up with a 3 way splitter at the GPU? I am in two minds if I should buy a PSU now (like the Corsair AX166i or the Seasonic Prime TX-1600) or just wait a bit longer until real ATX3.0 PSUs are hitting the market.

The 3090 ti comes with a 3 to 1 hookup, 450 watts. Corsair has come out with a 600 watts 2 to 1 cable for psu without the 12vhpwr plug for the 4090s. Out of stock for now.
