I sure as fack hope people changed their minds with those prices... 1500 euro for a 256 bit gpu and 1100 euro for a 192 bit gpu... if people desperately need the performance, then up the game to a 4090... otherwise, get super cheap second hand 3080 12gb.

Yeah, 3080's are already down to 300 euro on ebay... i would deffo wait a month for prices to really drop, and then take a chance on one of those used 3080's, rather than giving nvidia 1500 freaking euro for a midrange chip... !

Jensen will have it named the Super Duper 4070 Ultra Ti Extra Baller Edition instead of 4050, to continue their new naming convention of lying as hard as possible.
Yes the 4090 is looking like it'll be solid, though I suspect AIB models worth buying will be $1.8K+ USD. And despite the CAD being very strong vs most currencies, it's currently in the dumpster vs the USD, and the USD is what our prices for nearly everything here are based on. I expect AIB cards to be $2450-$2600 CAD before tax which is up to 15%, 13% here making it ~$2.8-2.9K. That puts it firmly in "Hell no, suck my balls" territory as far as I'm concerned.

It's times like this that I wish I was fine with 60 fps, if I was, I'd have absolutely no need for an upgrade.

I would still be careful with those. Dont forget those are the cards sitting in the mining rigs for a two years.

Still 3080 for 300eur, not bad at all. :)

Yeah, this usage of low tier chips in highend models, is really a crappy trend, just milking consumers for shitty chips that really ought to not cost even 1/3 of what they are charging... reminds me of the kepler days, when they introduced the titan brand (to hugely inflate prices), which was the only model that got the big chip (until the refresh of kepler 2 years later) with the 680 getting a midrange chip, like the 4080 is now.

And yes, you (i) will be paying for the privilige of getting a gpu that is actually better than my current one.

Im fine with 60 fps btw, but i want / need more omphf for 8k gaming :p

Yeah, but if they drop even further, to like 200 euro, maybe even 150 euro... i'd just take the chance, rather than giving nvidia TEN TIMES as much for a midrange chip... !

I've bought my 3080 12GB relatively recently. However, I bought it before the prices started to come down significantly, they were still pretty high; but I genuinely needed a new GPU, as my GTX 1080 just couldn't cut it anymore at 1440p in modern games. Considering that it cost me just about $2000 (that's in Canadian dollars, which means about $1500 US a couple of months ago) I'll make sure that my 3080 12GB will last me.

My plan, however, is simple enough. I'll "skip" the duration of this generation until RTX 5000 comes out. At that point I'll probably buy myself the 4080 16GB version. If that's about 2 to 3 years from now (max 3 years surely) then prices at that point will be better. Because I'm 100% certain that my 3080 12GB can serve me very well for that much time indeed. As it is right now, of the games I own, only Cyberpunk 2077 is highly demanding (although I still do get a comfortable 55+ to 75+ FPS at High / Extreme settings at 1440p with Ray Tracing). I do run everything else like a heated knife through butter.

So yeah, I'll probably go for a 4080 16GB in 2 years or so, maybe 3 years max.

after yesterday, probably none. 4070 is going to retail for 800eur for sure.
not going to pay big money for rdna3 either with their laugable fsr 2 implementation pace, unless they are really well priced, smiliar to rdna2 level.

nV need to sell those 4-5 mln (5.000.000) of Amperes (for the miners) to the Gamers (now!).
So we have those ridiculous Ada prices.

    Waiting for 5xxx ;)

With the current unveiled prices, I guess I'll skip. I was looking forward to a 4070, but not at these prices.

TBF this is how things are for nV GPUs:

102 Chip is full one, x80, x80Ti and x90 or Titan
103 Chip is cut down, good for x70, x70Ti or maby x60Ti
104 Chip is a hell of a cut down for x60 and maby x50Ti
    rest is just junk.

(If You are creator) Only viable option for ADA is 4090 but TBF i will go and wait for 4090Ti/Titan with full fat 18k Cores with NVLINK.

Yeah, with the insane prices of the top models, I don't have much hope for getting an Nvidia card. Especially with the scumbag move of promoting 4070 to a lesser 4080 version, thus necessitating a new, lousier 4070. If 4070 thus drops in performance, 4060 Ti must drop as well, naturally the same going for all the models below. Yet the prices will go up at the same time! Some say these prices only happened to encourage the sales of the remaining 3000 series cards filling up warehouses and thus the prices might drop later, but who knows. Seems like wishful thinking.

I guess it all depends on AMD now.

@fr33k Considering the disaster that was the RTX 4000 presentation, maybe you should add "none" to the poll. :D

Idk, I remember feeling hyped after the 3000 reveal. Sure, then the troubles with scalpers and miners began, but I was hyped. The ridiculous prices this time around killed any hype for me. Restricting DLSS 3.0 to Ada was just a rotten cherry on top. I think this will make me appreciate the 3070 I have now. After undervolting I've managed to shave off 80-90W on average, yet lost only single digits in performance.

I'm sorry, I really don't want to sound rude, but don't put any faith in AMD being for "the poor people". They'll go up with the prices as well, because why wouldn't they, if they can compete?

You aren't sounding rude because that's what I'm expecting as well. However, as long as we haven't seen the AMD prices, like we now saw the Nvidia prices, there's still a slim chance AMD will want to grow their rather low market share by having more competitive pricing. The past doesn't support such an expectation, especially below the flagship, but it's still a possibility, I guess.

I think nvidia know what they are doing. With a huge backlog of 3 series still waiting to be sold, and knowing the enthusiast market will pay top dollar for the latest and greatest card. What better why to both, sell to the highest bidder, and clear the backlog of 3 series for the people not willing to pay so much. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk a ex mined card so will likely going to a 3 series when the prices come down some more.. really hoping AMD pull something out the bag and release something a bit more affordable for us mere mortals .

i was hoping for an actual 4070, but looking at these prices it's gonna be 699 dollar msrp at lowest, therefore in eu something like 899 or so. i just hoped for a base 3080 performance at a lesser price as was the tradition last many gens
