Ryzen 7000 Could Rumored to run very Hot

That rumour is based on ES chip. Even the original post states so.
Lets wait and see the final one.

 

The hot spots are becoming smaller and smaller, it would make sense to have even higher temp spikes. As long as they're accounted for in the chip design, they shoudln't really matter.

 

I know what will happen next. Suddenly AMD fanboys will no longer care that CPUs are running hot, it will become "fine" and "norm"

 

Probably an ES that they pushed high voltage to make sure it ran at the predicted clock speeds.
Here is one ES of the 12900K that can't clock well and has problems with the memory controller.

cache ram in the cpu or as a sec. socket ? and dont connect it via pcie2

arent people sick of this micro steps of so called new tech when in reallity its nothing more than the bottleneck holding us back the last 30+ years ? why hasnt ram speed or ram itself change a bit for so long ? becuase ram speed makes the only difference but pssst dont tell, let them pay.

 

I don't like to refer to Elon Musk, but like he said, you can innovate and even build prototypes for whatever you like, but if you can't solidly manufacture millions of them in a reasonable (that is, short) time, for a reasonable price, without major problems, it doesn't really matter. Everybody's using the same RAM, so it's copiously available for a good price. Another thing is that the current x86-64 PC is a modular, heterogeneous platform, so the RAM is expected to be modular as well. Apple has always been doing things differently with its own platform, so it won't face any backlash from using any kind of memory system it wants. Perhaps the same could work with x86-64 PCs, but since the platform is so modular, there's quite limited consensus. There's no single author who could decide how to do things. Mobos and RAM are even made by different companies, the CPUs yet by other manufacturers.

On the server side things are changing more rapidly. Nvidia is making its own CPU to run the server GPUs. It can use whatever kind of memory system for it, assuming it can find anything interesting on the market. The customers will buy the whole packet. Perhaps we already know the memory system. I haven't checked. HBM?

 

all the more reason to go with 13700 and ddr4.

 

The more reason to wait for the reviews in 3 weeks.

 

Just let people get what suits for them.

I went with a 65 watt 11700 and couldn't be happier.

 

Desktop chips shouldn't be exceeding 150W and 80C under load with stock cooling in my mind...

 

In other news, direct sunlight is hot.

Anybody with a basic understanding of electronics will grasp the fact that the 7000-series will require more cooling than the 5000-series. Increased TDP across the board (and much higher clock frequencies) tend to have that effect on things.

These are just random ramblings from a random guy with unknown hardware on the internet imho. I will wait until reviews are released. But I am in no doubt that these will require better cooling. That is a given fact based on the published specifications.

Its one thing if the performance isnt there and runs hot, vs having the performance and it running hot.

I saw many people just accept how hot this 4790k, 6700k, and 7700k ran. Or even current 12th gen intel.

Lets not be a dafty here.

 

What grabs my attention is that I wasn't aware that the 13900k can run at 350 watts is that for real?

 

Thermals could in theory be improved with a better bracket, zen4 is using a mounting bracket similar to the ones Intel uses and those generally have contact problems with the cooler dissipator

And this is why most people don't trust or care about announced TDPs.
