    Why so many sticky drivers?

Undervolting is a dumb idea, just like overclocking ;)

Probably not as dumb as reverting drivers due to per mille performance "regressions" in synthies.

I suppose with the fixes for shader compile issues etc. this driver branch has finally gotten rock solid for most users since the last hotfix driver.

Did I miss something? What kind of fixes regarding shader compile?

this driver (516 series) breaks Zombie army 4, chernobylite, and succubus (crash to desktop)
reverting to 512 resolves the issues

for 3090ti, the issue with hdmi 2.1 monitor not returning from sleep is still an issue, unresolved

    thank you

I settled on .865mv at 1860Mhz curve 1890 actual boost with my 3080. Can't imagine running it at stock voltage now, the default voltage was 1.081mv, which is crazy considering how much headroom the silicon has.

Sounds like a You/System config issue to me. Again, just tested Chernobylite & Succubus & both run just fine with both this driver & the previous build. I'm not one to blow smoke up Nvidia's ass but I honestly feel that they did good with the previous & now this driver release... I have no issues in any games that I play & I bounce around many as do lot's of other peeps...

Seriously! Is it soooo hard to concede that "you" & your setup/settings choices throughout your Windows installation is the issue here & not the driver?

I agree, tried both games as well on this new driver using a 3080 12Gb, no issues in either. 3 1/2 hrs total playtime.

I suspect some e.g. 3080s just left factory semi-broken. It may not look like that due to soft & silent TDRs, but probably buy some cheaper card and check if crashes go away.
My brother did exactly this with his 3080 Suprim. We even installed it into my system and Fortnite RT DLSS 100% reliably made the driver crash after a few minutes. Of course the a**hole shop didn't find anything on inspection, but since then he also has a 3060 TUF with 0 crashes ever (apart from the allegedly first faulty driver of this branch, but perhaps it also was ReShade Vulkan related [probably not exclusively]).

I noticed this tho after a few months with windows updates some games crash to desktop for me aswell without any warnings i have a feeling that windows 10 latest update might do this stuff. But i could be wrong

  12. I can only imagine what AMD and NVIDIA have to deal with with bug reports :p

Yeah those games are running fine here too.
I think a big issue is people overclocking/tweaking their systems to the edge, or over the edge of stability and then blaming drivers or other software for possibly exposing those instabilities. I don't know what he has done to his system so I'm not saying this is his problem, but it seems to be an issue in general with people refusing to believe their system may become unstable.

Its also very possible fanboy rage, or even AMD themselves trying to make it look like there are issues on this very public forum.

No it's not, it's actually the most sensible thing to do. Consuming less power whilst not sacrificing performances. This exactly the best optimization scenario. It allows less temp increase (so longer lifespan theoretically) and can even maximize performances in some cases where the GPU (or CPU) was throttling due to max temp. reached. And it saves electricity (in most cases as long as it's balanced efficiently).
