With a single thread, the unreleased Intel Core i7-13700K processor reached over a thousand points on the CPU-Z benchmark this week. The overclock was accomplished by setting the eight performance cor...

    Why 13700 and not 13900?
I guess the reason why they went with the 13700 is because E-cores are crippling cooling due to used up die space that still gets fed power in the end?

I bet they oc'ed until it reached 1k score so they can brag now over interwebz.. :D doesnt matter if it cooks at them volts and power usage

They used what they got... You can't always choose what you are getting to test. :)

E-cores on or off, it doesn't really matter much cooling vice :)

    Both resumed my thoughts.
That said, impressive score but it's OC and not indicative of real world performance.
And I wouldn't be interested in pushing over 100W on a CPU, ever.

    Meh!

this is part of the opening salvo of the Intel hype cannon.

why do you think there were so many "leaks"? yes, yes China...
but Intel is no rookie or tourist these leaks were deliberate.

and all because the AMD launch is on schedule and Intel's isn't (although it will be launched fairly soon).

all because Intel knows AMD keeps a tighter grip on ES (with fewer ES points) and AMD aside from earnings calls keeps info closer to the vest. Intel is a firm believer in P.T. Barnum's rules of marketing (he was the first marketeer in the modern sense) - "advertising is like learning - a little is a dangerous thing" & "there's no such thing as bad publicity".

Honestly, considering how much power the chip consumes under normal clock speeds, I think 450W would be reasonable when all 8 cores are pushed to 6.18GHz. Still a stupid amount, but so is the frequency.

Is this on AIR? We can fry eggs on this for this coming winter...

They should make a single core chip just for shiggles to OC and lets see how high it can go

Cough my 11900kf goes 330 watts, I actually use it as a heater no joke. And a 3090 pulling 400-500watts makes my room heat up great in the winter. Right now in the CA vally heat no AC running 5.3ghz on this pos intel maxing out at 85+C on all the cores 1.4 voltage. If I could only get a de-lid done on this momma I could hit 5.5GHZ on water ez. But at like 400+watts LOL!!!

The single core CPU-Z score is quite impressive, however I am interested in how the CPU was cooled, either LN2,air cooled,AIO water cooled or custom water cooled. As we all know, open pot LN2 systems are not designed for continuous use, just setting overclock records. I would also like to know what the TDP was as well.

Ln2 could have clocked it way higher. Maybe Phase Change Cooler could do that, but you may need Dry Ice or a Cascade Phase Change. I'd be shocked if it was ambient cooling.

These heat and power usage jokes are never ending it seems. I have 12700K and it's incredible CPU. Never had any high temp or high power usage issues. Not even when rendering 3D scenes in Maya.

e-cores are best limited to just a few imo, i'd like to see 6p+4e on 13400 cause that won't add much to power but will help MT performance noticeably but not more than 4,it's like having an additional i3 inside your cpu just for support, efficient when properly configured
a 16t cpu under 200eur matching a 5800x in MT and beating it in gaming would be incredible value, working on my old ddr4 b-dies

I just can't give 2 F's about any news Intel anymore. I was so loyal to them for decades and all they did was F the consumer.
    I'll never EVER go back.
