I read this whole article again because something just doesn't sit right for me.

That's why i looked at it again and read all the comments.

Don't you guys see the difference?

If 4090 is 66% better than 3090 Ti there's no way it's 82% for none Ti.

The gap between the two would be almost identical. You only have to check difference between 3090 and 3090Ti and it's not 16%.

    That's not how percentages work...

    Let's imagine the 3090 Ti gets 100fps.
If the 4090 is 66% faster, then that means the 4090 gets 166fps.
If the 4090 is 82% faster than the 3090, that means the 3090 gets 166/1.82=91fps.
That means the 3090 Ti is 100/91=1.099, or 9.9% faster than the 3090, which it is.

I don't get excited about Nvidia's new flagships anymore. It's like Ferrari announcing a new supercar. It's only exciting for the 5 people willing and able to afford it. I still have my 1080Ti and am hoping for the same price of $700 Nvidia might offer me an RTX 4030 that performs similar to a GTX 1060. Nvidia's pricing is downright hostile toward gamers.

This is exactly how it feels atm it's difficult to get excited with the cost of new hardware, I've upgraded my entire system over the last 2 years but I find it very hard to spend the cost of my entire system for just 1 gpu worthy of actually upgrading to.

I'm extremely excited for new hardware. Weather I can afford it is another question.

I am for this new batch of cards as AMD have closed the gap with the 6 series and both company's should be releasing around the same times, oh and the new CPUs as well.

    Why did they use 3DMark?

I thought the new thing was to measure in hash rates?

Just a side note on temps as it seems a big thing with the next generation of GPUs.
Left my rig on idle in a room with the outside door open.

    Ambient/Case 34C
    Water 36C
    CPU 49c/49C

Closed the door and turned on the aircon set to 24C
    Ambient/Case 24C
    Water 26C
    CPU29C/34C

So basically im not bothered how hot the next gen of hardware gets, as long as my AC doesn't break down :D

This is what it's coming to. Needing to run your pc in a server room. I've seen quite a lot of bravado recently regarding the upward trend of power consumption, mainly I think from people who think it's socialist to be concerned about such things. But I'm sure that a lot of people are going to find their case cooling just isn't up to that new cpu or gpu upgrade in the next couple of years.

We don't generally have AC in the UK but if temps do keep rising year on year with global warming then maybe time to get one.

Do they use alot of electric to run?

Not if used correctly, I have mine set on 27c and auto but only on in a room I'm in and then only if its needed. My house in the UK doesn't have AC and when I was back last week my gaming laptop was getting very warm (2070gtx)
. But my house in Cyprus has AC in all the main rooms but to be honest the biggest impact is humidity rather than just the temperature so a dehumidifier is an option. AC in the UK is also very expensive to buy, 2 or 3 times per unit price over Cyprus. Also like a PSU, it's more economical to use a more powerful AC unit at half power than a smaller one at 100% so the units I have in the kitchen, and gaming toom are the most powerful, the lounge nextblevel down and the bedrooms one down again.

I had my split unit running in my computer room for 12 hours yesterday. It used 4 kWh in that time. It’s a Samsung Windfree Elite.

I had my PC on all last night DLing and thought about putting the AC on but the outside temp dropped to 28C so left it as it was essentially just idling.

The time for gaming benchmarks should be very soon. I hope whoever does test shows benchies for the most demanding titles @4k max settings.

I want to see what the 4090 does with Icarus, Cyberpunk and other titles with heavy Raytracing.
