Looking forward to the next generation of GPUs and CPUs. I wonder if the shader core count between the 4090 at 16,384 and the 4090 TI at 18,432 will be noticeable? This makes me think we will probably see a performance gap similar to the 3090 and 3090TI which was 5% to 10% depending on the application. In regards to games it was less than that. In most titles the 3090 and 3090 TI had the same performance give or take a frame or two.

I'm excited. I want to see all offerings and I'm rolling with whoever provides the best product.

AD104 numbers are wrong - at least the vram amount of bus width... it's either 192 bit and 12gb or 256 bit and 16gb.

Well maybe this time it's actually possible to get a card I want, now mining has crashed and prices coming down.

I do have a rtx 3080 10 gb, but it was not the card I really wanted. I wanted a card with at least 12 gb vram as 10 is insufficient for 4K and at times even for 1440P.

So if spec are true rtx 4080 with 16 gb vram, seems to be the card I actually want. No bad things about my current rtx 3080 besides it came with to little vram amount from the start.

  6. $999 for a 4080 is quite a bit more than the $699 for the 3080. I hope AMD are competitive and don't show the same greed they did with Zen3 when it comes to their next gen GPUs.

Reminds me of the gtx 780 TI and high res gaming back in 2013/14 - very fast gpu, but seriously limited by lack of vram. Vowed to never make that mistake again.

I doubt AMD will be any cheaper. It's not like RDNA 2 would have been inexpensive either. If AMD gets the RT working with RDNA 3, it's all the more reason for them to ask for a high price. If the MCM flagship turns out to be a real monster, it can be used to drag the prestige of the whole series up, giving an additional excuse to raise the prices. There already were rumours of Nvidia wanting to produce less (consumer?) chips than initially planned, so it wouldn't be strange if AMD did the same. It would be for keeping the prices up.

Looks like the 4050 GPU will be more in-line for me. 1080p and have to watch the energy consumption
But how long will I have to wait?
But looking forward to the reviews on these new monsters and 100T-flops, mad as a box of frogs.

I'll probably hold onto my 3070 for another couple years at least until the 5070/5080 are out. Might do a whole new build then too unless maybe they release Zen 4 CPUs on socket AM4 with 3D Vcache (unlikely)

Reasonable TGP 420W? If we take this course of action in 2 years time 600 TGP will be reasonable. Which is , as of now, 'glaringly clear a negative side'.
Especially if you consider 3080's TGP of 320W which is still a bit high.

Sell the card and buy a 3080 12GB variant.

Disappointed with the 4070 specs thats the card i was aiming for. 10gb vram will seriously limit the card in the near future. There is already a rumor 192bit/12gb 4070ti is also in the works.

I played in 1440p. Never was a problem with 780ti. Though I had 2x sli, and only had it one generation. Way better frametimes than AMD cards at that time.

If you need to play in 4k and max AA with slow fps, then midrange isn't for you.

I game at 3440x1440 and i think 10gb will be the limit very soon. Price and spec wise there is a big gab between 4070 and 4080 and if we know nvidia 4070ti 12gb will be coming. I better wait for that.
