They definitely paved the way. Otherwise why would AMD have Tensor math cores? This part is already decided. Actual performance will decide who led.

    stage 1 - rdna 1 - denial, rt,dlss andf mesh shaders were a gimmick
stage 2 - rdna 2 - acceptance, yeah, rt on is nice, dlss is great but I prefer +5% to rasterization and fsr
stage 3 - rdna 3 - rt and ml-based reconstruction is the future

Oh you guys are very daring to go down those rabbit holes of "Nvidia did it first, AMD follows"... even if I share the opinion, I expect the shots to be fired soon into anybody stating what looks obvious :D

You forgot to mention that it'll be "real" rt and "real" ml when they do it ;)

The real difference is JHH stated that ray tracing was one of Nvidia's goals many years ago (2008?), back when it was considered impossible without a server room doing it. My own prediction was that when Fifa got RT, it would be mainstream, but, that's looking in doubt right now. However, RT has really become mainstream with PS5 and XSX. Those consoles only get a slice of it, but, it's enough that it's established and accepted.
