  2. Yeah, I'd prefer something a little more confident than a probably for an answer :p

Referencing this post, what dlls are being used for D3D? It's either amdxn (new), or ati.

amdxn.dll which DirectX 9 PAL existed since first driver when RDNA 1 released. Since 22.6.1 current release are just rebranding version of 27.20.20XXX, no DirectX 11 PAL

    Hi there,
sorry for offtopic, there is also a new 22.6.1 for Windows 10. But why not a WDDM 3 driver (Windows 11) for the Legacy Cards like R9 290 now.
    I don't think the R9 290/390 cannot handle WDDM 3?

I don't think AMD is interested on delivering WDDM 3.x support for GCN1/2/3

No appologies needed, it's kind of on topic!
I don't see any new page on AMD website for 22.6.1 for Windows 10 though.
Where do you got that from?

So, we're almost through the month with no W10/11 AMD driver, Then a Windows 7 driver drops. Whew. I just don't know.

I won't mind if they skipped a whole month to get something more meaty the next.

But unnecessary driver, no release notes and unfortunately no WDDM3.X for Windows 11.

Nobody in their right mind uses Windows 7 anymore.
Only its fanatics and psycho haters of Windows 10 use it.

But as someone is dumb and wants to use a system that is outdated, it is not secure and holds back his hardware, go ahead.
There is no shortage of masochists in this world.

Great move from AMD imho. Support for old GPUs is always nice. And win7 isn't obsolete for millions of PCs worldwide. So, where is the bad in this release? They released a win10 22.6.1 driver after all.

I like my computer to be fast and stable. Windows 7/8 are the best when it comes to this. I've tried many releases of 10 all the way from beta to 21H2. Some of them are better than others, but overall 7/8 is just better.

This is just a rename, driver version 27.20.20912.1002 instead of 30.X like newer driver releases

Does not install correctly on a bare Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate with only AMD chipset driver with an AMD Radeon 5700; i downloaded the appropriate one not the one for 6400/6500 series card.

    Bare as in non updated?
You updates for Windows 7 if you want to install new drivers, because of lack of SHA-2 code signing support on base SP1.
    This one specifically.

Though, I recommend this pack to update Windows 7

    https://blog.simplix.info/updatepack7r2/

All the updates as of 15-06-2022
I can 100% vouche for it. I use it to update machines on regular basis.
Machines that NEED Windows 7 to work. Not by my choise, but because of some specialty medical software.

    At MerolaC

You are correct, the SHA-2 code signing is needed for proper installation of this specific AMD Adrenalin revision 22.6.1 for Windows 7. It never was an issue until this driver; tried all the previous ones and was using 21.5.1 for Windows 7x64 without this specific prerequisite.

    Thank you.
