I know, I tried it on my 2070S and it was almost a slide show. Or as console gamers say, "perfectly playable".
Not even cyberpunk and dying light 2 have such a big of a performance hit using rt. Hows the dlss image quality when using it at 1080p? Never tried it.
I played it at 1440p. But honestly, the difference in image quality with RT, is kind of small, especially considering the performance impact.
I only thing I found that was noticeable, was the reflections. But even that is not a great improvement in graphics. It's best to turn off RT and play it with much better frame rates.
This is what the RT settings are doing, according to a dev on the steam forum. So they grouped a bunch of stuff together. Might be able to tone them down individually in the config files for better performance. LoW reflections low reflections bounces 1 translucent reflections - off mesh caustics - off water caustics - off DDGI- off Medium reflections low reflections bounces 1 translucent reflections -low mesh caustics - low water caustics - low DDGI- on High reflections medium reflections bounces 1 translucent reflections -medium mesh caustics - medium water caustics - medium DDGI- on Ultra reflections high reflections bounces 2 translucent reflections - high mesh caustics - high water caustics - high DDGI- on
This is the first game i had to turn the "prefer maximum performance" on in the Nvidia control panel to get rid of most of the stutters.....
Seeing how demanding rt effects are in this game just reminds me stalker will probably be the same as it has similar setting and environment.
This is UE4 game with baked/static lighting. Stalker should be UE5 game with dynamic lighting and Lumen.
The graphics are really nice looking especially for a game of this team size/budget from what I gather. I quite enjoyed the beginning of the game, but it did stutter quite frequently on my rig (3900X + 2080 S + G-Sync + 2933 MHz cl14 DDR4 + NVMe SSD) which kinda mucked up the experience. I think Alex from DF also saw that in his testing with their 10900K rig, but if you can look past that (or if you don't experience it) then the game does look really good imo.
