it's like paying double to eat and extra ladle more rather than saving that money for another whole, well priced meal in the future.

there's no loot dropping in the ingame benchmark which I'm talking about, on amd at the time the camera goes right to left behind some wooden fence a guy is camping there's an explosion and then the camera reaches one of those outside wc cabinets there's a clear freeze on most computers that is completely gone in my 12900k build
also I have 220-360fps depending on how open the area I'm in with a 12900k I play amara with the move speed skills and the floor is lava modifier it goes fast really fast, never noticed any stall or freeze when loot dropped, not with legit loot, maybe if you use cheats and max loot items and rarity but not in normal settings (which I also did but don't remember having any freezes)

edit : playing unlimited fps bl3 with a 3090 is what made me realize three things
    1) previous cards were mostly limited by binning and the clockspeed, rtx 3090 are limited purely by power, if you unlock vsync it's going to go as fast as you can power it reaching stupid high useless fps...no previous card generation ever did that, never that's new and why I totally believe 600w cards can be a thing
    2) there's no hope for air cooling I went waterblock after 2 weeks and vsync is your friend because those cards will fry your hardware before they stop trying to pump out more fps lol
    3) high fps 1080p can be worse than 4k it was never a problem before the 3090 because the cards couldn't pump out so many frames vsync or not, but the high watts rtx can absolutely do 300+ which is like 6K@60fps

I repeat what I already said benchmark numbers are better than nothing but absolutely not representative of the real fps modern cards can output, it's nowhere near reality, when the game engine or cpu don't nerf them....things go wild
borderlands 3 ingame benchmark said I had around 165fps (from memory) in 1080p badass on the 5950x on the intel it says i now have 180fps (also from memory I'm not at home) if i leave vsync disabled ingame I never go under 220 and like I said I saw 360fps in one of the caves level (1080p badass all maxed + FOV at 100)...very misleading representation those "formatted" "nerfed" ingame benchmarks reviewers love to use
when I had the 1080ti I had 100-120fps and if I unlocked them well it stayed the same, that's not true anymore at all
RTX 3080 3090 are monstruous a HUGE jump in performance..HUGE

    ANYWAYS back on topic
those screenshots are suspiciously lacking, not only did he not use the ingame, comparable by everyone benchmark (which I know I said aren't representative of real perf) but it prevents to get any info about the cpu and gpus
the main reason why everyone uses tomb raider is that it gives you cpu render, gpu render numbers and also tells you if you are gpu or cpu bound which is unique I think and works from what I've seen I've seen both depending on cpu/gpu configs

well in the very end i am not the one to tell you how to spend your money as far you enjoy it by all means ! I did not say to not buy something stronger if you are buying a new system , what i am saying say you have a 12600 or a 5600x ... makes little to no sense to get a 5800x or a 12900x just to future proof as far the previews cpus you already have are more than enough for your today needs !

OMG looking at those 720p shots hurts my eyes. I can't believe we used to play at that res back in the days of the first Voodoo chipsets.

I played on a Game Gear with a resolution of 160 × 144. And it was amazing back then. :D
    How things have changed.
Now we can play at 4K and complain about a bit of shimmering or blurriness.

160x144 is about the maximum you can do with an rx6500 if you want to do full raytracing today ! So game gear was ahead of it's time :p
