This is so odd. IGN page lists a 7/10 and it was reviewed on PS5. https://www.ign.com/games/ghostwire-tokyo
Ghostwire uses Unreal. They aren't using STEM for this. But, other projects, it's unknown. Like Arkane, they are using Unreal for Redfall, but used Void for Deathloop.
I totally forgot evil within was using stem engine which is basically iteration if idtech just like void suffering from the same issues like the performance and pop-in.
i got 110fps from DLSS performance 4k cinematic RT maxed, can't complain at all, it's a 60fps HDR game, so i'll stick to 60fps
Calling it a "stuttering mess" is a bit much. Now, of course, experiences differ from person to person... PC to PC. But, So far I've noticed no stuttering. And FPS has remained a constant 60 with no dips, hitching or pauses. UE4 is very hit or miss, but... at least for me, this one is running great. And my PC is fairly old. Currently getting the parts to build a new PC, but... not there yet.
Well, Evil Within 2 uses STEM. The first game used idTech5, with the lighting, rendering and physics rewritten... and MegaTextures removed. Megatextures won't work with dynamic lighting, and Evil Within makes heavy use of dynamic lighting. STEM used in Evil Within 2 was a much more drastically rewritten engine. Tango never clarified how much of the engine they rewrote, and how much original code was left... but, good chance there was very little remaining. I know with Arkane and their VOID Engine, they said there was less then 20% of the original idTech code in VOID. And that was at DisHonored 2. So, with Deathloop, chances are there's even less.
Am I the only one who thinks this game is procreating boring? Tried it for about 2 hours and it's extremely repetitive right out of the box. The actions we are called upon to perform are all very basic and the combat system is not stimulating at all. The graphics are nice, especially in the outdoor areas, but the RT is forcefully implemented making everything look extremely shiny and unrealistic, almost like grease. I expected a lot more from someone like Mikamy. Among other things, the horror component is barely present here and not at all successful.
actually dreaded seeing the monsters or whatever the frack they are as the combat is a complete chore. crappy performance too, already refunded
I’m enjoying the game so far and think it looks great with RT on, but it does seem to have some serious performance issues. When I first start the game I get a solid 60fps at 4k with everything maxed except for RT reflections at low and DLSS balanced. After playing for a while, however, the frame rate starts to drop. It continues to get worse and worse until the game is practically unplayable. If I close the game and start it again, performance is solid again. This sounds like a memory leak. Playing on a 3080 and 5900x btw.
Apparently there was a day 1 patch which didn’t go up until this afternoon for some reason. Includes fixes for performance and stability. Hopefully this fixes the memory leak or whatever issue.
