    I didn't have your problem exactly, but there is a bug regarding HDR playback with with Windows 10 and madVR when I connect my Vega 64 to my Benq monitor and a Sansung QN89A. The computer simply hangs when pause the playback for a few seconds. Easily reproducible on my machine I had reported It a few times. Haven't checked if It was fixed, though.

    So VRAM will clock down to idle in the following situations.

    Only using a single monitor - Any refresh rate including the monitor set at its native 144Hz

    And in multi-monitor configuration, idle clocks will only engage if primary monitor is set to 100Hz or lower.

    So to summarise, idle clocks fail to engage in a multimonitor environment if primary monitor is set to 120hz or higher - it's always been like this.

    It's likely a VBI setting intrisic to your displays then. I also have a 1440p 144Hz (Asus VG27A) + 1080p 60Hz (Asus VS248) display and my idle mem clock is around 20Mhz

    This is my primary monitors parameters, what would you suggest I do? It's a TN panel (pretty old now), Iiyama GB2488HSU

    First off all update to the latest CRU witch is version 1.5.1.
    Second...the blanking value seems too low. Probably custom reduced timings set by the manufacturer. In the timing drop down menu...select automatic(PC), CVT-RB, exact, exact reduced or native(PC)
    One of these should work... hopefully.

    Gave them a go, sadly no joy :(

    Strike that, manually set blanking to 108 lines and it has done the trick! Power consumption by the GPU at idle reduced from 30w, down to 5w

    Can you download MonitorInfoView and check if your monitor has low power mode support?
    And if "Default GTF" is set to Yes?

    In CRU, in the extension block editor.
    Is there a 144hz preset with CVT-RB timings values?
    Try CRU CVT-RB preset with 143.981 hz.
    Same settings as from here https://tomverbeure.github.io/video_timings_calculator
    1080p @ 144hz preset.

    I also have an iiyama 144hz monitor and the downclocking works fine.
    But when I force overwrite the 143.981 with 144hz the downclocking doesn't work anymore but the blanking value is the same...

    Did you try to install the drivers provided by iiyama?
    It does set some info about resolutions in the registry... idk maybe it does make a difference too?



    What does low power mode in the edid of a monitor exactly mean?

    Hmm..
    Seems like using CVT-RB seems contra productive to fix the vram downclocking?
    I always wondered why it is 143.981hz and not 144hz.
    Some say because thats because of NTSC and 23.976hz.
    But 143.981 is not exactly dividable by 23.976.
    Or is it because 143.981 is the closes value when using CVT-RB before reaching some magical pixel clock limit that prevents the GPU from idling?

    My second monitor (60hz, is actually a TV) uses some custom timing (CEA-861) when I force it to CVT-RB it breakes the downclocking too.
