Ryzen 5000 B2 stepping has lower consumption and lower temperatures

now drop the prices down to 220eur for 5600x and 290eur for 5800x and it would make a really nice option.

 

I'd take 5800X B2 if it goes for 300EUR . Like instant buy

For 3D cache version i don't hope as it will be crazy expensive.

 

There is no point buying any of those when 7800x/ddr5 is on the horizon.

 

We need a thread on b2 stepping. The actual difference for day to day overclockers between b0 and b2. Is there any way to find the stepping just by looking at it?

 

look at ddr5 prices alone
then think how expensive r7000 will be, on tsmc5n with 3d cache
and you'll need a new board too,and that's coming with pcie5 so even more expensive than 4.0 boards,probably no b50 board options for early buyers too.

there is no point in waiting for this if you can get a good 8 core already. absolutely. something to hold you for another 3 years.
I'd only cosider something that could take fast ddr4 instead of ddr5 too.the memory is super expensive and the memory controller frequency on the cpu (what intel calls gears and infinity fabric on amd) are gonna gimp the cpus until we can get one that runs 5200-5400 in 1:1 mode.

 

32gb c38 ddr5 5200 costs 360eur so + board and the cpu you can be under 1000$ and have a system that will smoke everything today. I think its worth waiting and saving especially if you bought an 8core zen+/zen2 few years ago.

 

Its the opposite. I don't plan upgrading to DDR5 on first generation , it's bad idea. I rather have strong 8 core CPU on AM4 and wait few years .
I like bang for the buck and i dont like changing platforms every year because i can have 10% more FPS in games that already have 400FPS+ .

I'm set for another 3-5 years with AM4 , then i will decide what to do.

Stupid is not to upgrade CPU if you have good AM4 platform.

Zen4 will smoke ddr4/alder lake and zen3 not ddr5/alder lake which makes early adoption make sense. Just look at first ddr4 haswell-e 5820k still a viable platform while 4770k is totaly outdated.

so why wait to spend a thousand on zen4 and ddr5

the haswell-e comparison doesn't apply here,it's faster because of more cores and quad channel

Why would i early adopt DDR5/Zen4 ? Because i can get more fps in high fps games ? .

In all GPU demanding titles , 5800X or anything similar will last for few years minimum. My GPU will run out of power before and we know where is GPU market right now.

So i stand , that it is much better to upgrade older platform and wait for best offer in following years.

hmmm yes there is some, as an exemple: you have a Ryzen 2100G (2C/4T) and your motherboard just have the new bios for Ryzen 5000 and 3D cache ready...
It's less expensive upgrade (and price on DDR4 go down while DDR5 still fly high)

Some of us don't directly jump on the latest and greatest, while it still makes financial sense to keep some of the hardware we have in use. For my Ryzen 7 3800X system it would make economical sense to eek out a few more years by upgrading to a Ryzen 5000 series processor. It would save me the cost of a new motherboard and RAM.

If AM5 is still viable in a couple of years and I feel that the Ryzen X 5YYY is getting a bit long in the tooth, then I can still decide to upgrade to whatever makes sense at that moment. Heck, if Intel is leading I might even switch back to Intel at that time. It's not like I'm a fanboi that is married to a specific brand. I've hopped from Intel to AMD, AMD to Intel and Intel to AMD in the past, from the Pentium 2 era up till now with the Ryzen 7 3800X (going from P2 to Athlon, to Core 2 Duo and Core I7 2600K to Ryzen 7 3800X).

 

But does it make a diffence with stock clock ? And if so, is it bigger than the 30W/9° of the OC reported in the news ?
Overclocking has the tendency to overconsume watts & heat for very little improvement.

imo it's best to just follow the market and get stuff when they're good value

 

Obviously paying a premium for anything is always bad economically.
Unless you're stupid rich and want to support the company or just to brag, better wait for better products that actually make a difference for the money you're spending and have their price corrected.
I usually upgrade late when it gets to DDR, probably at least 2 or 3 years after the product is available. Faster memory will be available and CPUs will have better controllers by then. Price will be more stable too, considering no shortages...
