    same spelling mistakes tbh

i'd prefer 6900xt to 3080 if I was gonna get one of them at the same price.

They are the same price in Canada.

Cheapest RX 6900XT is 2049$ CAD on Newegg.ca.
Cheapest RTX 3080 is 2034$ CAD on Newegg.ca.
Cheapest RTX 3090 is 3799$ CAD on Newegg.ca.

Price clearly affected by miners as it doesn't make any sense for a gamer to pay almost twice as much for a RTX 3090. The RTX 3090 Tie will be an awful deal for anyone not mining.

Got my popcorn ready, camping here to see how nV boys defend the price of this card.

Expect RTX 3090 to become less available in favor of its more expensive sibling....based on what happened to the RTX 3080 in favor of the more expensive (hence more profitable) RTX 3080 Ti.

    3080 12GB > 6900XT, change my mind :D
3090 were widely available back in 2020, if people didn't buy it then, it's best to move on.

Even if they priced it at same MSRP as original ($1499), it would be OOS instantly. Scalpers and greedy retailers would ensure supply and demand dictates the price and it would be not much different than the $3650 price its going for now.

Will 0 be considered as a number?
Well that is what i feel I have left in me as a PC gamer. Sadly now i am just a daddy who shrinked his hobby to palying mobile games occasionally :(

    - it's like having your # cc and security code on top of you during black friday in a shop for your wallet (i will not develop this on this forum).
    - it use your PSU and GPU and lower the lifespan.
    - it's not optimum result due to activity switching
    - ... and so more
The best is to have 2 machines, also specialised mining machine mine way better.

Agree, whatever the color red or green, it's not the time to get a GPU way too expensive for what you get, i am happy with my RX 6700xt that i get at reasonable price when crypto fall down few month ago...

I mean obviously if you have the equipment two machines is better but I fail to see how doing it on one machine is bad.

My 3080 paid for itself like six months after I got it. It's now funding my motorcycle and I haven't had to do anything aside from hitting the "stop" button when I want to game and "start" afterward. It may lower the life span of the card but who cares I'm replacing it anyway. Buying a whole second set of components for a mining rig would have put the return on investment way longer out, especially with how hard it is to get cards.

    So idk, seems fine.

You're telling us you managed to generate $/€800+ from mining some coin on a single GPU in 6 months? Sounds like bull to me. Not possible. I would be questioning 1/10 of that in 6 months TBH.

Currently 3080 can earn about $4 a day. I believe it was higher than that several months ago.

You have no concept of what mining pays do you?

It was averaging nearly $10-14 per day for almost 5 months - some days spiking as high as $20 a day. Since buying this thing I literally paid for my card, paid for the down payment on my bike ($2000) and now it helps pay for the monthly payments, about $110 per month on average with current payout.

Even at the current pricepoint you could pay the cost of my 3080 in about 7 months - let alone what it was paying back at the start of the year. So I have no idea wtf geogan is talking about.

Questioning it based on what exactly? You feeling it? Can you like idk, source where you're pulling a number from instead of just acting weirdly incredulous about something you're clearly clueless about?

I can't use the calculator because i have no idea how much i'm paying for my electric GBP/kWH. I'm guessing it's pretty high as i seem to be putting in about £40 every two weeks which is probably £10-£15 more than normal as it's so cold and my heating is on 24/7.

Since it cost me £2200 for the "privilage" to own a 3090 in the first lock down we had and the pretty high wattage use of this system i really notice the difference by the way to my older system which was about a 1/3 of the watts used, i really don't think it would be worth it for me to mine on this system.

Profit would be like £2 a day at best.

While I certainly didn’t go quit as extreme I certainly had to scale back my gaming budget and habits. More than likely if this were 10 years ago i’d have bought a 3090.

    ps:

don’t tell my wife I bought an entire sell PC for 1k so I could steal it’s 3060 and swap it out for my 2070s to mine with it. Lost a few FPS but I gained $3 a day :D
