Source So Devolver Digital just teased a new Serious Sam game. I wonder if it's a whole new game, another spinoff, or some DLC for Serious Sam 4.
Probably a spinoff. Hope it looks and runs better than the turd that was SS4. Phew. I've been a fan of the series but that last game was terrible.
Once you disable texture streaming, SS4 becomes a good experience. I had quite a bit of fun with it. Not the best in the series, but still good.
Weird, they had RDLC depot hanging on SS4 which i'm pretty sure is this along with significant movement on dedicated server depots. But i don't see why Devolver would specifically say it's a new game.
Just couldn't get into it. Loved even the cartoony SS2 that got a lot of hate. This one just ..not for me.
the last game was very weak, the biggest turn off for me was the environments compared to the older\classic games.
Sam4 is personally, my favorite in the series. And, despite it's rough edges... is a fantastic game. As for this "announcement", I see it being a DLC thing. Maybe a stand alone release. But, taking some of the cut content from Sam 4 and expanding it into a longer side story.
TBH it'd be quite a low blow to let a kinda half baked game hanging for 6+ months after couple of patches to focus on a new standalone product. I really hope it's a DLC at best paired with much needed fixes for the base game.
Wow talk about under the radar lol. I sure wouldn't mind a well done Serious Sam experience. "Groovy" Lol! This is going to be a nice 1st quarter of PC gaming.
First and second encounter are the best with the ss2 being unique one in the series i wish they get back one day (maybe remaster).
It's definitely down to personal preferences. But, I revisited First and Second Encounters recently, and they didn't age well. Same basic formula, but to me, they don't hold up as well. Specially First Encounter. It is the hardest to revisit and really get into, as I find I just start to get bored after a while. And, I wouldn't bank on a remaster of Serious Sam 2. It's been officially made non-canon to the series. And, Croteam have said it's version of the Serious Engine is way too different, making anything they do it to a massive undertaking. They had talked about remaking Sam2, to make it more in line with their original vision... before 2K forced a ton of content and tone changes, but, have said any work on such a project would be a side thing. Only done in free time, when there wasn't a main project to work on. Which, right now, there's Sam 4 updates, the new Sam project, and Talos Principle 2.
